Kind as your words are, the recent progress on the 104 trailer represents an albeit particularly visual step in the restoration which still has many thousand steps still to take. With the current number of volunteers engaged on the project, it will still be several years ahead before we see the trailer make its first moves in passenger service. However we do have aspirations to move the first third of the vehicle out of its restoration tent and start on the second third, which will be a very important milestone in the vehicle's restoration.

Thanks as always for the updates. Fascinating.
Any idea what's the next "vintage" carriage for restoration? Or is the focus now on the LNER ones?
Also, are the vintage train (and indeed the Quads) used at predictable times in the general timetable, or only at galas? I've caught them occasionally on previous visits, but I think it was the specific week in July.

The 4/6 wheel vintage train project is now substantially complete (no more additions) but there is a 1907 bogie coach that will be restored in due course. In the meantime, the LNER coaches will form the bulk of the "pre Mark 1" focus.

The Vintage train has booked runs during the summer, details are normally on the website. Quads are galas only, they have been used on odd service trains unbooked, but this is not something you could ever predict. Their only normal service trains are during the suburban week, also advertised on the website.

Hope you are well and just busy. Missing the weekly fix. I appreciate it must be time consuming so please take this as concern and encouragement rather than complaint

Another great post - keep them coming, I know it must take quite a chunk of your time collecting pictures and information.

I'm looking forward to a few turns on the NLEs in December.

Can't believe the B12's boiler ticket expires next year. Where did those years go? I'm guessing there is a chance it might be a fast track overhaul, what with funds already in place and facilities at Weybourne able to carry out the overhaul on site?

Is there a completion date for the N2's overhaul?

I thought the B12 had more years on her current boiler ticket as she returned in 2012.

I’m sure I’d read it expired end of 2020. Be happy to be told I’m wrong!

I read somewhere it ends in 2021 and 2021 is when the N2 is due back into service.

From he Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Society website see https://www.mandgn.org/page.php?pid=34" On 8th March 2012, the B12 returned to traffic on the North Norfolk Railway in a special M&GN Joint Railway Society Members’ Day, put on especially for supporters of the overhaul and Society to enjoy"

Remember the B12 ‘s boiler was hydraulic tested and steam tested before it arrived in Bury. It sat in the yard for a while, before being completed. The date is actually from the hydraulic test or out of frames steam test, not when it was back in traffic

Wasn't there a delay with the B12 entering the works at Bury due to over running work on Flying Scotsman?
