We've had the argument before about the rights and wrongs of charging for programmes / WTTs. Personally I do prefer them to be included in the ticket price but paying an extra £3.50 on the day isn't a deal breaker for me. Doesn't seem right charging £3.50 for something that is not accurate though..... I would add that what appears in the programme is in no way a "working timetable". It's just a normal timetable with loco allocations.

There seems to be a certain amount of confusion about this gala mainly caused by uncertainty over when the BL-NF section can be used and therefore when it will be possible to turn locos at the South end of the line. If I come it will be on Saturday when it seems like the GWR shuttles will use up many of the paths on that section. So questions occur like:

    1) Will there by any loco turning on the NF triangle on Saturday?
    2) It turning is not possible at NF will locos still be turned on the Minehead turntable?
    3) Will any information on loco turning be in the programme?

Is any of this important? Yes if you prefer photos of forward facing locos. I don't want to be waiting nearly an hour to phot a particular loco only to find it arriving tender/bunker first. Before anyone starts I will be buying a ticket and travelling not just photting!

I am afraid I am no totally confused about the locos never mind which trains they may be covering. Well the panniers anyway.
The Facebook page link given up thread talks about 4 and the .org loco roster mentions only two.
Anyone have knowledge of the true situation regarding pannier numbers? (I can only attend on the Sunday anyway).

https://www.west-somerset-railway.c...west-somerset-railway-on-saturday-5th-october There is mention of 4 Panniers there and it was published two days ago. I'm also going Sunday (Got to get married on Saturday first though!).

So? Do you do what everybody else does? I support Swansea City, you support Plymouth Argyle. Some teams charge £3 for a programme, others £3.50.

Thanks for the link Pete and good luck with something good on Saturday.
Unfortunately my inability to go any other day than Sunday is due to my wife being in the middle of a course of radiotherapy, so even Sunday may be a no go if she does not feel too well.

They have included a paper update to some allocations in the past, Spring 2008 I think it was.

Sorry to hear about your wife.

Best wishes to both of you

  10. Besides the point.

Eg Swanage have a gala next week, Their timetable online includes what loco is on what train.

This isn't spin and win, If the railway doesn't have the common decency, To provide customers with said information like Swanage has upfront for free.

Then they won't get my support and I'll stick with the football, least you know what you are getting up front,

  11. Doesn't make it right.

  12. besides the point.
Even the SVR give out the locos up front and the program is an optional extra.

By charging £3.50 they've lost out on £30 on a rover.

Not like they need the money is it, if they can turn down £30 in exchange for £3.50.

I'm pretty sure thats not what you get with football, you get to know the teams an hour before kick off and if your in a good mood afterwards is not always guaranteed.

  14. They wouldn't charge £3.50 for a team sheet though.

    Wouldn't be as shortsighted.

To be fair, the "wtt" is actually a glossy booklet. I think £3.50 is fair.

  19. Charge for a booklet by all means,

    But charge for a WTT?

No thanks will take my custom to a railway thats more customer-friendly and deserving of my cold hard cash.

No wonder the place almost went under.

  20. £23 and you know what you are getting 90 mins of football.

    or
£30 and take your chance in this day and age.

    Forget it.
