I'm at Didcot Railway Centre and she whizzed past sometime around 13:10-13:15. Caught me by surprise as I didn't know the tour was running. I went to get a picture but just missed it.

I'm wondering about the rationale for running the Newbury circular trip from and to Oxford Parkway, running straight through Oxford itself non-stop.

    Edit: corrected typo.

    Fear not......

An LNER Y1 whistles up an LNER A3 - how unique is that

My footage of Flying Scotsman passing Crofton in the beautiful sunshine. The footage also features Clun Castle and the Duchess the previous day. I hope you enjoy it.

I had overlooked the fact that I hadn't provided my video link for the Weymouth run - at Effingham Junction.

Mayflower looked good this morning as it passed Acton Works on the first Windsor run.

How time flies! Next week will be the final "Sunset Steam Express". Below is from Purley Oaks last night with the penultimate run.

The results of a day spent photographing the Windsor trains and the evening diner yesterday. I understand that loading have been particularly good so there will probably be a repeat next year. Locations are-
1 The first train (routed via the West London Line, Acton and Kew Junction) passing Kensington Olympia
2 Second train coming out of the concrete canyon at Vauxhall
3 Taking the Hounslow loop at Barnes, pity about the self shunting coaches on the Reading service arriving just at the wrong time
4 The poor man's Belmond approaching Clapham Junction in the last of the evening light

They were on RTT earlier this morning - 3 trains KX-NOR, NOR-LOW & LOW-KX. Plus le move NOR-LOW which I assume to be the B1 after servicing. Implies NOR-LOW tour leg is diesel only.

.....plus the diesel accompanying the train for all other legs.....

And so here we are 10 years after the Easterling out of Liverpool Street with the RTC and 70013 and the world has gone backwards. On that trip the Norwich to Lowestoft leg was run with Ollie tender first. Yes we terminated at Stratford but that is no hardship with transport links from that station.

Perhaps also worth just mentioning that more recently, 61306 ran a steam-only Easterling outing to Lowestoft for RTC on 8th March 2015. Load 10, with diesel involvement confined to ecs moves at KGX and intermediately at Norwich for the reversal manoeuvre. KGX departure, out via Ely, tender first Norwich-Lowestoft, then via the East Suffolk line and Bacon Factory Curve back to Bury St Edmunds/ Newmarket / Cambridge/ KGX. So you might say that the world has gone backwards in roughly half the time that you previously imagined !!

I notice that 'Duchess of Sutherland' is now scheduled to run from Sheffield Park (Bluebell Rly) to Bath on Saturday, 5th October 2019.
Originally the tour was planned to run to Worcester including Sapperton. <BJ>

You are right this is ten years later and our tinpot railways have become even more threadbare than they were. I don't think WC put a diesel on for fun, there will be an operational reason. I was talking to someone from VT a while back and they have very few options where a diesel on the back is not necessary.
