34046 & 34092 running together all 4 days (Fri-Mon) with a diesel also out (50015 on Fri/Sat) but understand that D832 might not make the party on Sun/Mon but would be replaced by a WR loco (D9531?)

Also, fares appear to be ordinary fares so £16 for full line return which acts as a rover is quite a good bargain.

West Country East Lancs 24 August 2019

The ELR wanted to celebrate completing the purchase for the Railway of West Country Pacific No 34092 City of Wells. The visit of Jeremy Hosking's rebuilt 'WC' No 34042 Braunton for a West Country Weekend provided a context to welcome the accession of Wells to the ELR fleet and acknowledge the donations which had made it possible.

With both steam services West Country worked and a glorious summer day, where else better to be than behind steam in the beautiful Irwell Valley?

    Best wishes as always

Peter on a hot sunny Manchester afternoon

Re-built WC replaced by a coffee percolator on wheels! Sorry to read this and commiserations to the ELR and anyone who travelled to see it. That's life in the wonderful world of railway enthusiasm.

The event turned into a mini diesel fest on the final day after 34046 Braunton was failed with a broken brake block, with D832 rostered on the 3rd train, D5054 putting in a brief appearance and D9531 deputising for No. 34046. Here's a shot of No. 34092 City of Wells crossing Roche Viaduct with the last train from Heywood to Rawtenstall on Monday 26th August.

A selection of other images from the final day can be seen on my Zenfolio website at: - https://mickrogers.zenfolio.com/p647174022

    Cheers,
