    Hi Folks,

I noticed in the latest Traction Ads that there is the possibility of a 2' line for sale as a going concern, somewhere in Southern England. For the life of me I can't think of which railway it is (unless my definition of Southern England differs from others') - anyone know?

Says profitable in the ad which might be a clue as must carry passengers? Although can't think of anything at the moment. South is a bit vague, could be South West or South East and anywhere in between.

whilst I appreciate many would like to know , i think we need to be sensitive to the impact on lines caused by speculation .

It depends where you are standing. To me, anything north of the Shrewsbury is Scotland, so in Halifax that "southern England" might include Leighton Buzzard (which I am sure is not for sale) . Go on Chris. Make the enquiry. We know you want your own railway.....

It's owned by a Trust, and is leaving the Brickworks, so probably not

Ha no, I really don't. I just couldn't think where it might be as I can't think of any 2' commercial operations in southern England, but I take Sidmouth's point about speculation

There are a couple I can think of. One on a small island on the south coast.

There's another partly built on the former S & D trackbed, and another down in Devon. Plenty of candidates, we shall just have to wait and see!

I think what threw me was it was labelled as a business, rather then a trust/charity/club operation. That seemed to rule out Hayling Island etc. but as you say, wait and see

Well better to be for sale than closed down wherever it is, so long as someone actually buys it.
