WCRC have confirmed via facebook that none of the lunchtime Stratford to Snow Hill trips will run for operational reasons . I happily stand to be corrected but I suspect it wasn't possible to path the turning move to Dorridge and allow time to service whilst getting away around 5pm .

the joy of the Shakespeare is an affordable price and not too long a day out which is great for youngsters .

A diesel in consist could’ve opened up an option to run the final run to Hatton or Warwick to run steam chimney first back to Burton. Pathing permitting opens up an enthusiast appeal (Hatton Bank) but on a certain discussion forum it opens up a different argument

Indeed and ideal for us. Localish, affordable, sensible start time, attractive destination for wives and families. A much easier 'sell' then the Pennine Explorer which I'd love to do of course.

And/or Carlisle has one of the best small Cathedrals in the country, the Citadel, the Tullie House Museum with a surprisingly good permanent collection, Winifred Nicholson etc, and often interesting exhibitions--- and a good cafe for those not fixated on Spoons. I don't know if there's a Margaret Forster/Hunter Davies walking tour, but there ought to be. Given its size, Carlisle is a surprisingly good place not full of tourists. On a rainy day, the second hand bookshop down the road to the Citadel is a good place to spend time in if you're that way inclined.

The monsoon conditions around Burton have eased slightly as 48151 romps up the bank at Elford with the first of Mr Smith’s ventures to Stratford upon Avon. No sign of lineside fires !

It's on the North Warwickshire Line, between Earlswood and Wood End, near where the M42 meets the M40

I thought this might happen. The 8F just went past me at Hatton North Jnc on the turning move... a tad earlier than the original timings, but then they did have 4 hours to play with
