I haven't heard anything other than 'Black 5' for today - is there a suggestion of a failure? BTW, RTT suggests a passenger uptake stop at Streatham Common (1055 - 1100). Is this the case as the SD site's blurb makes no mention of it? Doesn't look like a timing/pathing stop as nothing else is nearby, but why have this and East Croydon as pick-ups?

Realtime trains always says Diesel. They do not have a steam option.

RTT also stated FL (fast line) at Earlswood - ridiculously optimistic given the state of the Brighton main line on a Saturday with frequent 90mph trains and the special limited to 60mph! As expected it actually took the slow. NR's pathing specialists strike again!

The same pathing specialists who have ruined the Mid Norfolk Railway's gala by not being able to find a path to get 60009 & 46233 to Wymondham from Southall. Network Rail...not fit for purpose and staffed by incompetents.

The issue was nothing to do with pathing. Check your facts.

Those "facts" came from the official 60009 Facebook page so you are suggesting that they have published incorrect information.

It might be a good time to calm it a bit. The updates we receive from JS are most useful. Let's not lose a good contact for the sake of your comments.

As for NR we know that they're not perfect but if I was a staff member and read your post I would quite happily ensure that all work regarding any steam tour would go to the back of the queue. <BJ>

I was just asking for clarification. JS was somewhat hostile to me yet I got the information, in good faith, from the 60009 Facebook page. I have no axe to grind with JS, just asking for clarification.

I had no idea this run was taking place until I saw a post about it on a local gossip page on my Facebook. I did see a family gathered on the pavement on the road above Haywards Heath Tunnel but thought they were just looking at the station, it was around the time the train was due through that I went out earlier (although I did have to go past the station and didn't see anything so must have only just missed it arriving as it appears to have stopped at Haywards Heath).

Could a schools manage ten and a 33 over the return route via Battle though ? but saying that, that would certainly be a sight , But the nearest loco with a current ticket that would be a near fit has to be 31806 , unless Repton has the full set of main line equipment, But lets dream, an Southern double header 31806, 30926:Drool::Drool::Drool:

The question was "What price........." The answer has to be a very large six figure sum. If someone were to spend this sort of sum on a relevant locomotive who cares about what is on the back of the train (usual suspects excepted, of course).
