What's this, Robin? Lineside photography? Chasing trains? Should we expect you at a photo charter soon with a camera?

  2. A brilliant run this evening. Nice to see so many familiar faces on board.

The turning of both engines at Minehead was appreciated.

It was a real privilege to enjoy the 14 coach double headed Manor Trip to Minehead last night - it was very well patronised and very successful complete with Fireman Chairman on Odney!

Well done to all those involved, the only downside was that on not having eaten anything the Association Buffet at Lydiard was shut and we had to wait for the buffet on the train to open and because of the demand there was a queue continuously in both directions and I spent two and a half times the fare on refreshments!

When is the next trip with say double headed Hymeks or something equally imaginative - the £10 fare means you fill the train and passengers can spend money on other railway supporting activities

Having witnessed a very quiet railway on the 40th opening Anniversary to Lydeard it was a relief to witness a real success something the railway desperately needs

Well done WSR it shows what can be Achieved with a bit of imagination!!

I worked in Project Management for 35 years and fully understand what Stakeholders are and all about Stakeholder engagement. I don't like to brag but I actually helped to write the book on it.
All Stakeholders have rights to information and to be able to ask questions but not the same rights as Shareholders or indeed WSRA members.
There are channels through which stakeholders can ask questions and receive answers. This forum is not necessarily the correct channel. You can post what you like here and say what you like but you should not assume that posting a legitimate Stakeholder question here will get you an answer when there are other channels available to you to ask the question more formally (a point you seem to have acknowledged already in your post). In common with a few others I monitor this "channel" but very often don't publically answer a question.

The obvious train would be pair of hymeks two weeks yesterday when the majority interested would be in the vicinity already but no signalmen ...

My footage of the 14 coach train with 7828 Odney Manor and 7802 Bradley Manor roaring up Crowcombe and Washford Banks respectively yesterday. Enjoy.

Hi Tom , " Needs to crack the doors open to get some top air ... " is that in reference to the black smoke and that's what you might do if it were a steamer ? Thank you .

Out of curiosity, why did the down loop require a trap point in 1979, but no longer seems to? What has changed in the signalling?

quite a lot! The track layout in 1979 was largely that which was installed by the GW in the 1930, though rationalisation took place in the 1960s. The trap there was provided as this was the end of the double track section from Taunton and allowed trains to enter the station from each direction simultaneously. It just didnt ever get removed prior to 1979. I diont know when it did go, but clearly it was recovered before BL box was brought back into use in the 1990s.

The difference between an unsignalled layout and a signalled one, in short.

We have been having a bit of a ‘dance of the Tenders’ on the WSR. I am sure that Andy @Aberdare could enlighten us how to correctly refer to each one.
