Any chance of a little more detail? Haven't seen "News from the Board Room" for months (Have I just missed it or have none been published?) but did hear rumours on my goodbye visit a couple of weeks ago.

    Edit; Added:-
Just had a quick look at Companies House to see if there was anything there and note that Rob P. who stood down at the AGM in November is still listed as a Director and new directors elected not listed... Simple omission to make I suppose but I'd have thought that notifying the changes of Directors would be an automatic thing to be done after an AGM. Hope this is a genuine mistake and not a sign of worse to come.

    Hi Alan,
A note from myself was sent out to all members and volunteers last night outlining the position and inviting them to an open meeting to discuss. If you give me your email I will happily send it to you to put your mind at ease. Hope the move is goeing well.

    Hi Alan

Hope the move is going well,

The last “News from the Boardroom” was published in January’s volunteers newsletter. I assume you still receive the VNL? There is another edition due out shortly.

    Regards

    Matt

    Update

The new level crossing gates have arrived. These have been constructed in GWR style albeit in metal rather than wood. Since the opening of the Abergwili Junction extension in 2017, the present gates have been in regular use and have deteriorated rapidly as a result. They were erected in 2011 so we have had good use out of the present gates, the only regret being we didn’t have a charter with a GW loco during this time. The new gates will be erected shortly.

Also under construction is the loco pit in the shed. We have now reached the concrete stage now. There are a number of loco projects ongoing at present including

    - Olwen ; smaller parts being cleaned and painted , axle boxes to be sent for repair

    - Haulwen ; detubing of this loco has started ahead of boiler assessment

    - Moorbarrow ; boiler away for repair and frames and motion being worked on

    - Jennifer ; two springs away for repair.

As you can see we are hoping to get under cover soon so that all of the above can be progressed.

In other news the work continues on Aberaeron signal box with a base being constructed to erect it at Llwyfan Cerrig.

The DMU power car is also in the shed for repairs ahead of the main season.

    Regards

    Matt

Nice to see the shed finally nearing completion but I fear you may have missed a trick there by not putting a drain or pump sump in the pit. Yes, I realise it's inside the shed but put a loco with a leaking valve in there or move the crane in after a period of rain (it drips for days) and Steve & Co will be paddling. :(

I'll second that. A pit without a drain or, at least, a sump and pump will be regretted for evermore. Been there and wish I hadn't. Ours now has a drain. Pallets will keep your feet dry for a while but they eventually start to float.

The plan is to install a sump but also that the present pit being constructed will be used for restoration work (indoors) while the outside pit (which has a drain) for running repairs.

    Update

    1. Haulwen’s boiler has seen all the tubes removed. To the right the frames of “Moorbarrow” are receiving attention as part of the ten year overhaul.

    2. Inside Haulwen’s firebox

    3. Pit progress. Should be inside the shed just in time for the warm weather ☺️

    Regards

Nice to see the progress being made on the Gwili, and it seems that the group looking after TVR28 are doing a fine job too.

Are there any plans even in the distant future to return Haulwen to her LMR livery ? No reason for asking other than my love for the LMR...

P.S How is the Carriage shed appeal going ?

    Thanks Gareth, we do try....

At the moment we think Haulwen may be returned to NCB livery although the first step is to get the boiler inspected to determine the works

Dan Do project work continues in the background , we would hope to make a start at least later this year.

    Regards

Not strictly Gwili related i know, but i've recently come across the carriages that are now hoilday homes at Tresaith/ Aberporth. Is there any more information out there about what carriages are actually there. From my googling i 've seen what look like pre grouping carriages I was wondering if anyone on the railway, particularly those involved with the TVR carriages may know what is up there or where i can find out more.
