Has anybody heard anything about Alycidon since the failure??
Lots of views being expressed on The Auld Reekie thread..............but no updated facts.
I speak as someone who thinks the Deltic locos are one of the finest classes to ever run on rails.:)

So... massive back EMF from the motors or a complete loss of regulation from the generator? Did something momentarily go open-circuit when it shouldn't have?

Update received from Pathfinder this morning confirms the sad but not unexpected news that the 11th May "Harrogate & Humber Deltic Reprise" has now been postponed to Saturday 3rd August, following completion of damage repairs to Alycidon. New date not possible for me, so it looks like the best options for some kind of Deltic fix in the near term future are going to be guest appearances currently billed at either SVR (mid-May) or NNR (mid June). Or maybe just wait, because in truth, with a Deltic, its the magic of a main line outing that really appeals.

Pathfinder Tours have announced that their 'Mazey Day Cornishman' railtour to Penzance on 29th June (booked for Alycidon) is now to be hauled by alternate traction.

IMHO it was the only decent diesel railtour to the south west this year. :( <BJ>

Now this silly fertile old mind of mine thinks something is afoot at The DPS. Reading the latest on their web site....
    http://thedps.co.uk/
I've read it three times and the bits that stick out are "I won't comment further here, an announcement will be made shortly", and then further down it says they are expecting 'important visitors'
It's most likely nothing and it's me that's reading something that's not there.

How about LSL, wanting the DPS to get RSG operational again under contract????

Don't worry Victor, there are those who are much more adept at reading things, that are not there, in statements, than you will every be...:)

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that LSL will be getting involved.
I haven't got any facts, it's just me thinking out loud.;)

Luckily I've not done half steam and vintage diesel with Alycidon yet with the A1 steam trust tours, how many traction motors are na#*ed on the bogies then? All six the early report in Railway Herald magazine I saw.
