Ah right, understood. I thought @Captain Fantastic was implying the WSR were "mad" to enforce their own axle weight restrictions!

Wow, You wonder why you need to put out public appeals for money, When that's your retort to potential paying customers.

    You will miss the money,

No wonder the railways in the state its in.

Wouldn't miss the railway once you go under then, Least Minehead will get a commuter service make good use of the line.

No wonder people boycott the railway as is,
The attitude of people down there still stinks, not our fault your infighting let your line degrade to the state of a glorified siding.

I like Peaks, but if the track won't take one safely, that's an end to it. Perhaps those who feel strongly about it would like to put their hands deeper into their pockets to fund track upgrading?

Deafening silence. D9526 will do me fine, meanwhile.

I was mearly pointing out the small difference between the weight of the only confirmed visitor of the one weekend a year when they seam they haven't got to almost apologise for the use of diesel's, the 46 would at most go up and down the line 15 times at the very most in the whole weekend when the hall which is almost the same weight will go up and down a hundred times or more, through the year with the hammer blows we all know it will make, is slightly annoying when there are two even heavier steam locos on the line I accept they aren't in running order yet but what's the plan there, if anyone really thinks diesels and steam are treated equally on this line then they really are being wilfully blind

I'm sorry but unless you have access to mine and others bank accounts who point out the differences here then that is a very sweeping statement to make Sir, I do support the line thanks but yet again it just seems anyone who doesn't think steam is king and visitors numbers, and what the public want etc etc type arguments crop up time and time again why should we support anything when we are constantly told the railway we would like to see doesn't matter, or is just too difficult, try looking at it this way if the steam was only let out on the secondary services on the peak weekends and only one full weekend a year and then the one named big visitor was pulled because someone else hasn't done there job and then be told you should just be grateful theres a shunter running instead so just pay for that instead it stinks in sorry but it does and it's not just this year it's been this way for ages, just put your feet in our shoes and try that and to be told again we are just being ungrateful pish I say

Already gave up on running days after the load 3 no buffet summer running.
After being told by the guard you are lucky to have 3 coaches and turning up for the diesel to buy a ticket to be told "Sorry you realise its a diesel don't you ? "

They have alienated most people into diesels, They already go elsewhere for running days, Now they will for galas,
Not like you need the custom is it now?

I'd cut back to just going to galas but after this, I'll take my money elsewhere.

Not sure where you would go, though. Most railways are the same - for good reasons!

Yes but on most other railways they dont feel the need to apologise for the use of a Diesel loco, let's be fair compared with the plastic dross that impersonates trains now on the mainline a big diesel is a mighty impressive thing, we arnt looking for a 50 50 diesel steam service but not to be made to feel in the way would be a good start, with the railway in the mess it is they should be trying to attract people not wind them up, it sure wasn't the use of diesels that got the line into the mess it is now that's for certain

Fair comment, but some customers get the reaction they deserve.

It is disappointing that 46010 can’t visit. The statement was polite, clear, and respectful. The reaction of some to this news was anything but, and the accusations of an anti-diesel stance were disgraceful.

However, sometimes protagonists on both sides might remember that if you can’t say something nice, it’s better to say nothing at all.

Who hasn’t done their job? No one has said precisely why the peak can’t run, just that there is a problem with the track.

It’s disappointing, but sometimes life is like that. It doesn’t get better if you throw accusations around.
