The WSR continuing to be a joke when it comes to Diesels, nothing ever changes,
They want your pound note, Say oh we're getting a peak in you make plans and then they pull it,
Bet the weight limits don't effect steam visitors.

Aren’t there also issues with track geometry for the Peaks, which saw them barred from some places?

The only place I can REMEMBER them being barred from RA excepting of course, was Glasgow Central after a Gateshead 46 came off on the points after coming up from Carlise

Does the QB traverse the northon triangle 2moro?

Will it be the same vintage bus used for the trip to minehead.

Is the bus fare included in the £16.20 return fare.

    Thanks for any answers.

    Oh and welcome back WSR..

    March 30th

I know it's only the first day & only 3 trains, but would anybody care to comment on passenger counts & destinations?
In particular, I'd be interested in the impact on Watchet retailers.

Nonsense. It is a question of axle loading and common sense until all the repairs are finished. The is NO prejudice against diesels as they are in every day use. The only prejudice is yours.

Simple question, but probably not a simple answer.
53808 and 7828 passed Blue Anchor with ECS what is stopping a service train doing the same?

Don Bishop, Chairman of the WSR's Gala Planning Team, writes:

''It is with the great regret that I have to announce that Class 46 no 46010 will not be able to attend the WSR Diesel Gala in June. This is entirely a decision reached by WSR management following advice from the railways Head of Infrastructure and the Office of Road and Rail (ORR). Those who know my leanings for the Peaks will probably realise that I'm pretty devastated by this news, as I'm sure many of you reading this will also be.

My team and I are continuing to work towards getting other suitable locos to the line to join our own two Hymeks, class 33s, class 47 and class 14''.

  10. Since that movement, a lack of rails ;)

  11. I understand:

    1) The QB will run to Norton on the WSR mainline (ie none of the triangle lines)
    2) Not sure but having made the trip from Weston to West Somerset it would make sense to use that rather nice vehicle again today (Sunday) and do remember it will be Buses of Somerset on subsequent days until full line reopens on Good Friday.
    3) travel on the Watchet-Minehead bus link is for those with a day rover ticket (I may be wrong there)

Just my understandong and not official in any way ;)

Have a good day on the Railway.

I would assume passenger safety. If the track is degraded below passenger status it may still meet freight/ECS standards. Crudly if an ECS comes off the track its "oh dear- never mind - how sad" If a passenger train derails it a full RAIB investigation and degraded track would not be a good excuse. Also an ECS can run under an engineering posesssion when a pass cant

It seems that some on here think they know better than the Head of Infrastructure and the ORR.

Many of us are digging deep, and will continue to do so, in order to protect the Railway that we love. We will not be happy if difficult decisions are not made and further closures are the result of damage caused to the line.

I am as disappointed as the next man that one of our Diesel Gala visitors has had to be withdrawn, but it's the right decision. I am still looking forward to our Gala and know that the Planning Team will put on a great show, as they always do.

To those of you throwing your dummies out of the Pram I say this. By all means, go off to another gala. I'm sure we won't miss you.

I can understand why you replied in that manner but with passenger figures in need of a boost at present it may not be the best time to annoy potential visitors.

It also sounds as if Don Bishop is a bit peed off at the moment. <BJ>

A pity that given that the line is struggling to get back on its feet some supporters are sending out bad comments to would be patrons, some of whom usually give good publicity to the WSR.
The 'everything is fine here and you lot are wrong' is still a popular mantra. Not the wisest PR as others have suggested.

I imagine he had already booked his accommodation to see that loco which has not run in a fair few years

Quite wide of the mark there. The RAIB can chose to investigate anything if they believe there is a valuable learning point to all. It could be passenger or freight. For example, I was on a train which derailed at Welshpool about ten years ago and there was no investigation in to it. I know of one that occurred in 2017 where no investigation was carried out despite it being a passenger train which departed the rails.
