I thought the appeal was launched on the basis that "we already have some of the money but need £340,000 more"

All seems very inconclusive. I mean, 34092 is operating on the ELR quite happily and they seem to have taken custodianship, which is really all the conclusion any of us could ask for, but I would have thought there'd have been some formal statement.

Personally, I have a Bulleid pacific on my nearest line for the foreseeable so I'm happy.

If that is the total price (and may well be funds or donations from before the launch of the Appeal meant the price was more), the ELR have got themselves an absolute bargain!

Why does anyone on this forum think they have a right to know the asking/selling price of this loco or 'require' a formal statement? :Chillout:

Not certain they do although knowing that its future is secure counts for quite a lot. Pacific in good condition that is not 'main line ready'? Start at half a million and work upwards, I suggest.

I don't see anyone saying that they have a right to know. This is a discussion forum. We were discussing the price, not demanding.

Does Grosmont run out of discs when you have more than one proper loco running? ;)

At the end of the day it's a transaction between a willing buyer and a willing seller so both parties must have been happy with the price .. If not the loco would have been offered to the open market.

The fact it remains on RG's doorstep might have been an influence if it was sold cheaply .Believe £340k was what ELR appeal was for whether the full cost or part of.

...... so's my wife and she's anything but loud..... well, except when she heard the results of the 2016 U.S. election. She swore continuously for a full 5 minutes without a pause - in 3 languages too... I was impressed.
