So, what's untrue? That the HR article does show that there has been no smoke without fire? Or perhaps it is that so many have made things worse? If not those, it must be that things have now turned the corner or that folk need to keep a lookout for the detractors? And where was the reference to the WRSA? I really do think that you should engage brain a bit more before hitting the keyboard with your wild assertions.

Although it was a dreadful distraction at the time with very far reaching consequences!

There was no WSRA / WSR plc fight last year.

West Somerset Railway - Then and Now

    WSR Journal 1978 - 2018

The journal, produced by the West Somerset Railway Association, has been recording the Railway scene in West Somerset since 1978. It appears quarterly and we are up to number 163 under the present editor, Ian Coleby.

Early copies are highly prized and ‘Reader’s Halt’ at Minehead is a good source for back copies.

Are you objecting to my characterisation of the events as a fight? Or are you trying to heroically rewrite recent history and claim that none of it actually happened? Given that it led directly to the appointment of the current chairman and - many people suspect - to the ORR inspection, claiming that we are imagining events from all of 8-10 months ago seems almost Stalinist in its loyalty.

What should we call it instead? An argument? A disagreement? The Affair Of The Directorships?

Personally I would say that there are bigger and more important things to think about - like setting up a crowd-funding exercise to buy @Robin Moira White a new book-shelf before the old one collapses!

I am not going to re-hash the matters well aired here. The WSRA had to deal with an internal matter related to the behaviour of two of its Trustees. It did that.

It did not constitute a ‘fight between the WSRA and WSR plc’ as you have chosen to characterise it.

In these difficult times for our Railway it would be helpful if mis-information could STOP.

I suggest that anyone wiahing to disagree with @Robin Moira White looks carefully at the shelves - the Necropolis Railway might indicate the likely penalty for disagreement

My academic training is in the study of the past, which is why I am always keen firstly to combat people who spread misinformation about it, and secondly to encourage openness about past events.

I would maybe say, though, that suggesting anyone who disagrees with Robin's rather radical interpretation of recent history (which I'll respond to in my own time) might need to travel to a cemetery could be construed as bullying if not threatening behaviour. Comments have indeed been made here in the past about the bullying and unfriendly nature of WSR "supporters"; it is a shame to see it still goes on.

Incidentally anyone interested in the Necropolis Railway who also likes raucous music may well enjoy the excellent song "Third Class Coffin" by punk bank The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing.

Neither statement is correct. Fortunately, there are many who can spot when history is being re-written.

That really is a curious response.

Actually I was only observing that folk seem to have got a grip of things on the WSR after what is being reported as a period when some collective eyes were not on the ball. It's good the Railway is moving on.

What ever the rights and wrongs lets pu
Exactly. I quoted JPP earlier that ‘the recent “infighting between the WSR plc and WSRA meant the eye was taken off the ball on finances and safety”. Let’s leave it at that rather than unpick things of who said what where when. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that the WSR moves on. Period.

I have checked my notes and peace broke out on 27th February 2016 when the first independently administered EGM returned the WSRA to the membership.

When it boils down to malign influences and falsehoods. A certain Yorkshire person, who claims to have frequent access to inside reliable information / sources is a champion scribe at practising this black art.

The Yorkshire refugee's famed ignore list does not help matters as it prevents the Latin quoting reprobate from realising how his inane quotes are perceived by his peers and treated with continued disdain.

The difference being that the company can release information in a prompt and informative manner and know all of it is there for people to see.Thereby operating in an open and responsible manner. Magazine articles are subjecting to editing (to suit space or 'attention grabbing' headlines) and may only contain 'selected' information to suit their needs.
