Well t'was another day of challenging weather but I enjoyed my second ever visit to the KWVR just as much as the first, despite it being about 30 degrees colder this time round! Snow, sleet, hail, rain, sun, we really did have it all. Bahamas looked and sounded great, but the run of the day was absolutely with the black 5, it made a superb racket and I'm still picking great lumps of ash out of my hair. :) The station staff at Haworth had my sympathies with that dreadful man in the hat with the small dog, I engaged with him for only 10 minutes and it was wearing in the extreme! Despite having a shed tour last time I still went away from this time's learning something new. A pity the timetable slipped and I ended up missing the train to Leeds but it wasn't the end of the world, I doubt it was for many others relying on the train to get home. Just curious as to why the LYR brake third wasn't running with the rest of the LYR coaches?

Overall a superb day despite the weather, thanks to everyone who made it happen. I'll be back again in the summer to enjoy one of the vintage carriages days. :)

Was he complaining about two railways having galas at the same time?

Oh god no, it was far worse than that! :) He was wittering on about the recent knife crime stories and how this country had gone far too soft and how we should lock them all up for ever and ever and and and... He went on but after a very patient and pleasant chap explained why that wasn't the answer and the guy just carried on ranting... I understood he'd been hanging around the station for a couple of hours probably speaking on a variety of topics in a similar vein. Anyway, didn't mean to drag the topic of conversation away from an excellent gala. :)

Sounds like it was a 'live' performance from the 'things that wind me up thread!'

Here's my video and a few photos from what was a very enjoyable gala, and certainly very interesting in terms of the weather! We managed rain, wind, sleet, snow, hail, and sun all in the space of about two hours on Sunday morning!

LYR Brake Third 1474 has some mechanical work in progress which could not be finished in time for March Gala, hopefully finished by Vintage Sundays in June and July
