A Thunderbird is coming from Newcastle to collect the Deltic from Dunbar. The charter will remain there until it arrives. I am on an LNER service to Doncaster that is due in DON when the charter should be back. So a result. But I can't see the charter getting back before midnight at best.

4 out of 6 traction motors gone according to relief driver in coach H.

Rescue loco rumoured to be 67004. Or 67010. Or a 66?

No longer going via Leeds or Wakefield.

Here's hoping everyone on board gets home safely and not too late. I envy you the first half of your trip. Commiserations on the return.

From what I understand pax put onto LNER services, some Donny ones on 1E28 and Leeds/Wakefield pax on 1E29. My dad is among the Wakefield contingent and is with a group who are getting a taxi from Leeds (as no connection to Wakefield).

Going to be a costly incident for some.

Well, that's a sickener not only for the DPS but everybody connected , a good run up for Tornado and then Alycidon throws a wobbly.:(

I hope everybody got home safely, and yes, I still wish we'd been on it but now we move on to something else.

Unfortunately it's the name of the game, no matter how well you service and prepare a piece of machinery it can fail suddenly and unexpectedly.:(
