Saw a few images from this spot, all over 5 years ago and none too recent. so the first thing I did upon arriving at Citadel yesterday morning was to see if this spot was still viable. You have to negotiate the trees at the back of the B&Q car park to reach it, but it's a decent spot if you don't fancy the station, only room for one mind! Got a tear in the jeans from sitting on the concrete post above the rusty fence, but I'd say it was worth it for the shot, and getting as much vegetation out of the frame as possible.

That's a remarkably well-exposed picture, looking up against the sky on a dull day. Rods down, too. Congratulations

45596 looks rather decent. There was the expected stop-start run onto NR metals. Currently at Hellifield in pleasant weather conditions. 37516 is today's tail-gunner.

A reasonable day, but don't think the return run from Appleby to Garsdale has done much to worry the timers as shovage seemed in evidence. Didn't get below 40mph on Ais Gill, which one would expect with a Class 6 with 11 plus idling 37.

45596 at Coniston Cold, Sherriff Brow , Smardale Curve and Waitby Rock cutting but sadly the 37 was doing more on the return leg .

Leaving Carlisle. The sun, which had been out for about an hour went in behind a dark cloud 5 minutes before the train arrived and came out again as the 37 was passing.
