Curious, although WCRC are also listed as doing the SRPS Forth Circle trips. With that in mind, it looks increasingly like steam resourcing issues in Scotland for DBC.

34046 spotted outside Crewe HS in light steam yesterday with POB. Seems unlikely she'll need another test run and will be taking that LE path to Stewarts Lane on Friday (subject to any complications)

Could also be that SRPS operates under the WCRC Safety Case hence the involvement of WCRC traction rather than any lack of DBC resources.

I seem to recall that DB was used back in 2013 for the Forth Circle with 60163, so there's probably a horses for courses approach. However, not being a party to such agreements means it's all chaff until such time it, if ever, gets spelled out officially. Either way, a curious turn of events.

Having said that, looking at the SRPS website, there's no longer a locomotive listed for the summer. Might have been seeing things, but I always thought it was provisionally 60163 in between Aberdonian runs.

The 23 Mar Bard of Avon and tours after are still listed as DBC jobs.

The SRPS stock is passed under WCRC, DB and GBRFs safety case - and used all three during the previous operating season.

We have not yet publicly advertised a locomotive for these tours. However, the A1 group have the loco listed for the 4th and 11th August:

There are times in this photting lark when you should have stayed in bed, if it wasn't bad enough finding out just before their arrival that a diesel was in front of the steam and then to be done by a Barrow flyer!! Cl47 No. 47614 pilots 'Sherwood Forester' from Crewe to Mossend in preparation for a private charter to Fort William

I understand that 34046 has a brake problem and so today's E+C move to Stewart's Lane is cancelled. 70000 can't deputise because she's not been gauged for at least part of tomorrow's route.

Thanks for this information. Saved me a wasted journey in Friday's rush hour this afternoon. Hope it's soon sorted and not s big problem.

Thanks for for the update, looks like 34046's issues were more than previously thought. Makes it an easier decision to head up the S&C tomorrow for 45596.

Interesting that the path does not show as cancelled.

It could be that my information is out-of-date and they've fixed the loco at the last minute. Or it could be that the path is neither cancelled nor activated (we've seen that before), or that RTT is behind the times - it's sometimes slow to pick up some changes.

Decided to head out to just south of Crewe on the off chance 34046 does run; it's such a pleasant afternoon and I do have some business close by.

    Fingers crossed!

Is the path actually activated? It might be worth checking again about 13:45. 2 hours before departure seems to be a critical time...
