Agreement was run and restore with Ian Riley but periodic returns to KWVR under the contract, although 45407 and 44871 can substitute if necessary.

Load nine and a diesel was confirmed a few weeks ago. Let's just hope that it stays quiet and doesn't overshadow the main attraction.

Well all I'll say on that score Bahamas did alright on her own coming up from Tyseley under her own steam considering its 120 odd miles approx from Tyseley to Keighley without diesel assistance she was flying along Aire Valley at Kirkstall forge yesterday teatime when I saw her.

Howcome it says on R.T.T. returning from carlisle it passes keighley jct and goes down to kirkstall goods loop at 19:11 and sets off back to kvwr from kirkstall loop at at 19:57, is that to allow a positioning move on the shipley triangle?

I don't think so. This is the L||E schedule for turning via Engine Shed Jn and Leeds.

The only reason that I can think of for the trip to Kirkstall Loop is that the trailing crossover at Keighley is secured out of use. ( That or someone thought it was the other BLS - Branch Line Society, with their liking for rare track.)

No. It wouldn't say Pass against Shipley if it was using the triangle, would it?

I presume the reason for this move is because the KWVR platform can only be accessed from the down line. It also helps to explain the diesel on the back.

The diesel takes the ECS back to Carnforth soon after arrival: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55236/2019/02/09/advanced

Then 45596 goes to turn in Leeds rather than Shipley: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55238/2019/02/09/advanced

Of course, 45596 could come off the train at Kirkstall to save time, but I guess they - quite rightly - want an arrival behind steam.

Having looked more closely at 0Z61 it does use the crossover. My mistake, sorry.
Perhaps it isn't passed for passenger train movements?

AFAIK the Keighley crossover is still in use, but daytime traffic density over the line means that there is no spare capacity in the timetable to block both lines while a train shunts through it. I have taken an engine from Keighley to York via Hellifield (to run round the support coach) in the fairly recent past because of this.

Sorry Neil but 0Z61 arrives on the down line (from the Leeds direction) so has no need to use the crossover as the KWVR connection trails off the down line.

Scotsman and stock did the run to Kirkstall and back on the previous KWVR trip from Oxenholme to Carlisle. Confused me at the time (not difficult) as I thought it was still loaded. Turns out the passengers had exited at Keighley then were treated to a run up the Worth Valley behind 90733 (I think from memory). Presume something similar applies again?

It sounds like that will be the case. A paragraph from https://kwvr.co.uk/event/bahamas-railtour-2/ reads:

    Peter,

I was thinking about the departure from Keighley towards Leeds that would use the trailing crossover between the running lines. Not being familiar with the signalling headways in that area, finding a gap in the service to shunt between the up and down lines with a passenger train seems to be the probable reason.
