I'm still waiting - trying to decide if the tour to Worcester in a couple of weeks time is worth it or if she will be available later in the summer when hopefully it may be a little warmer and with more daylight... Already behind her on the trip to Edinburgh in March, but don't want to be kicking myself if she is retired following her trip to Scotland in April.
Want to make the most of her while we still can but if by some miracle she does get an extension (I had her mainline certificate noted as expiring mid-late April) it would make sense to possibly wait. Would the extension though only allow special dispensation for running on the NYMR to Whitby (as that would make sense) but not on the "Main" routes - but she is advertised as being in a pool of locos for both RTC and Steam Dreams.
    Oh - I'm so confused!

There is no way that 60009 would run to Whitby - 60007 did once, but those responsible said 'never again' - some of the curves between Grosmont and Whitby are NOT Pacific friendly.

It caused potential problems in several areas and Roger Barker ( who wasn't keen on the idea to start with) said "Never again"

What a fantastic engine 60009 is. After watching the loco haul the heavy 12 coach Belmond Pullman yesterday, I was really impressed. From a standing start at Shalford 60009 simply powered up the incline towards Gomshall and beyond. This is the way to see and really appreciate steam at it's best.

Well done and thanks to DBC and support crews, not forgetting owner John Cameron. <BJ>

According to the latest SR John Cameron says 60009 is to under go a Hydraulic test in February, after which the boiler inspector " will then decide whether he's going to give us an extension to the certificate and from what I gather ... that could vary from one month to three months to 12 months"

Reported elsewhere that she needs some bottom front end work done and has been withdrawn from the tour on 9th March. In some ways, that makes me hopeful the boiler extension is going to happen.

Agreed. In the absence of a boiler extension the case for any maintenance/repairs now would be weak.

I concur, however - will it extend the mainline certificate (as the tour operators are obviously hoping for) or will it just lengthen the time for usage on preserved lines?

Best ask Ian Riley. I doubt if anyone on here can give a definite reply at this stage.

Lifted from a facebook post where a gentleman has stated that"I was at a meeting yesterday which was addressed by John Cameron. He announced that No 9 has had a 14 month extension to its Boiler certificate." Fingers crossed that this applies for mainline running.

Any news if the loco is running at the Moors next weekend?

She's reportedly moving from Bury to Pickering by road on Wednesday, so should be at the Moors as planned.
