FS will be operating for 5 days at Swanage and then on static display for another couple of weeks. Suspect that this is to suit operational requirements. It will be available to view during this time

Thanks for the updates and hope they make progress with the railcars if the class 108 unit goes to Llangollen.

There does not seem to be any any news of any deisel pulled LU 4TCs Purbeck Explorer for the May gala, still time to sort?
There is news of a steam puled Swanage Belle for September.

First 'Sunday Special' is Swanage Carnival Day - the busiest day in Swanage all year. Certainly be plenty to see and do for any passengers on that day.

Hopefully the two Class 73s Top and Tailing the LU 4TC should be able to 'lay over' in Platform 1 at Swanage whilst the steam Yellow timetable continues using the normal Platform 2.
It should be quite a busy day as you say - especially if it's fine weather.

FS tickets update after under two weeks on sale:
Observation Car 14 - Very few seats remaining.
Rest of the train [5 TSOs and BSO(buffet)) - Over 45% of tickets sold with the weekend proving more popular as might be expected.

It could be 6-coach running as well, being carnival week, which will mean either shunt releases or three locos in steam and loco swaps on each departure. Promises to be busy!

Put the fares up by £5 and run fewer trains.

I like that comment because it's quite amusing in its own way.
But somehow it feels just wrong to "like" it. :)

Five TSOs and and a brake coach is approximately 350 seats.

Charge an extra £5 per seat and you’ll take an extra £1750 per train.

For each train you don’t run you would lose £14,000 in takings (£40 x 350).

Maybe I’m missing something, but doesn’t make much sense to me.

I'd put the fares up by £5 and run the same number of trains!

Unless I missed something, I thought Daddsie7b's post was a reference to something the Big Railway appears to have done recently. ;)

Suspect the marketing team might have to work a little harder if thay were the case. There's still plenty left at the current price, but hopefully they will all go.

Various carriage shufflings at Swanage today. Maunsell Third Open No.1346 arrived from Rampart for completion of restoration, while Car 14 left on the same low loader for rectification work.

Absolutely, however I was suggesting this for service trains following on from the bottleneck on Carnival day conversation.

I note the Sandbanks Ferry returned on the 28th Jan, though currently with a 'limited service' (some post-refit grooviness with the hydraulics - apparently).

Looks like quite a breakdown - on a nearly new ferry as well.

It has been a bit of a saga, hasn't it? Mutterings of issues legal abound ..... a subject probably best given a wide berth until the dust settles. Let's just hope the ferry is running properly before hoards of happy happy grockles begin descending on Purbeck again this year.
