Network Rail strike again. Due to the number of trains in Lincoln on the 8th, the return has been retimed to leave at 1850. Due to engineering work it's now terminating at Finsbury Park at 2237. Oh joy.

It will be really pleasant standing between those barriers in the car park around 18:00 on a December night, especially if it is raining.

Indeed and the same as last year except that we were allowed into King's Cross. This is definitely not the trip to go on despite the attraction of the motive power.

Didn't attract that many this year. Only 8 passenger carrying carriages including the buffet; 3 Dining; 2 First; Buffet/Standard; and 2 Standard. So a Duchess and 10, possibly 11 if the second Standard Class is a TSO as WCR generally add the Compartment Brake. If it is only 10 then it is hardly worth getting out of bed at half three for. If we do go, to be safe for a train back to Bristol, we'll have to bail at Peterborough to keep 'one train behind'. Another £40 on the day. The joys of steam hauled railtours....

Looks like Steam Dreams are doing the same trip the next day which may account for the low numbers on the RTC train. It gets back to the Cross at the civilised time of 2128. Don't know what the motive power is though - booked for Mayflower so probably 44871! Won't be going on either - I like the trip to Lincoln but not when the Lindum Fayre's on.

According to RTT terminates at Ealing Broadway on the return. So maybe an extra stop had been added on the move of the ECS to Southall. There still seems to be plenty of trains heading into the Cross after this from Finsbury Park, so are the engineering works on the North London Line?

This is almost certainly because if the train went into KGX and a diesel were to return it to Southall then it would not make the cut-off time for closure of the line across London. The problem has happened before with late returning charters.

Hopefully it’s a problem with the websites as nothing else seems to be moving either.

As is usual for a Saturday, I am stuck in a freezing cold air-conditioned room with no windows so have no chance of seeing this in daylight on my home ground. Happy photting, those who get a chance.

Crossing Digswell Viaduct this morning. The wind didn't help matters and nor did a southbound 700, so this is about the best one could get!

Nice day for it. Should have been on it but unfortunately Mrs S broke her ankle yesterday so our touring has been truncated for the year. Been that sort of year. Booked 33 tours and only managed to do 19. Various factors; the hot weather related; diesels on the rear; Tornado's unavailability; plus the first 2 VT trains with 7029 wot couldn't run.
