Lighting up 48 hours before a trip is usual for quite a few owners, rushing it in less than 24 hours is not a good idea, I guess it also means the FTR can be done sooner so that in the event of a minor problem there is more time to sort it. Example: Yesterday when a problem was found with Mayflower, there was sufficient time to sort it for today's run.

I was thinking that as I was writing. Its great to see Mayflower getting closer to being let loose on the mainline again, she's surely been missed.

If so its the last longest stretch of joint flat bottom rail line and bullhead rails on a particular branch line thats gone. Enybody know of anywhere else theres bullhead rail and flat bottomed rail still in situ on main running lines cos i dont know of anywhere in yorkshire or lancs area only on the heritage scene e. Lancs N.Y.M.R. and K.V.W.R.

I wonder if its both 60103 for rail tour on 22nd & 60009, as she's on the ELR locomotive roster from 23rd Dec?

BH Rail is still widely in use all over the National network, although it does get replaced with Newer FB rail as renewals take place.
Some new BH rail is still being installed in various places though.

Is 60163 also picking up empty stock at carnforth cos i believe theres a I.R.R. tour from manchester vic up the s and c and back over shap on 22nd Dec so scotsman may come down fro castleton g.f. on that morning or do the east lancs r.way have a rake of mainline equipped coaches i believe the run is called the flying scotsman dalesman run joint by mr riley and west coast railways.

Scotsman will be hauling the 'Christmas Dalesman' on the 22nd and looking at RTT comes down from Castleton in the morning to join the train ex Carnforth at Brewery Junc.
As the train is being run by WCR, their stock will be used as ELR do not have any main line registered stock.

Having travelled by train from Preston to Huddersfield on a family visit, I was just leaving the station when I heard an engine suddenly letting off steam behind me.
On turning round, I was delighted to see 'Flying Scotsman' waiting for the road to continue her journey to the ELR- I didn't know beforehand that she was travelling that way so used my 'phone to take the attached shot (note 'Santa' taking a shot too) Huddersfield Scotsman.jpg Happy Christmas!

Great shot. That move snuck under t'radar! Presume today's move from NRM is either 60009, or nothing at all?
