Abit run down, mainly needs some windows and a rub down and repaint and then a tidy up and abit of work on the interior if I keep it as a non operational coach.

If I want it to be operational the underframe needs overhauling.

The point I was getting at was: if your coach needs a lot of work, and you are planning to finish the coach before starting the loco, why are you trying to get people to donate to the loco now? Basic project planning: if you want to be seen as competent, finish job A before starting job B

That doesn’t make any sense - even if you raised the money, holding on to it as cash for the next however many years just erodes its value, so you’ll still be short when the time comes.

Seriously - you need to decide which project you actually want to progress; then take advice from those skilled inthe field about what a realistic cost will be, then see if you are still up for it. Don’t forget that most projects based at heritage railways receive a substantial hidden subsidy in terms of access to things like tools, space, power and so on. If you don’t have access to those things where your stuff is based, then it is just more expense to factor in.

Surely you should be putting all/any funds into finishing one project before starting another. What you are saying just won't work out.
