    And a short way beyond Henry.

    We saw the best and worst of our railway's ability to handle the unexpected yesterday, full credit to everyone in rerouting the train behind the 8F over Shap, but then, assuming that on the original schedule the 8F would have gone south first, was it really necessary to send the RHTT ahead of the return train resulting in the severe loss of time over the S&C. I guess for whoever made the decision it's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.


    Just an aside should this not be re titled to Pendle Dalesman 2018 ?

    It was the 47,and it did very well in making up time en-route,as we were only 50late upon arrival at Kettering. It was announced at Hellifield that there were problems with the 37. I think they were preparing for the eight freight to tow it back to Carnforth via Wennington, judging by the amount of shunting going on in the pitch dark!

    Just watched on the Horton Webcam; 35018 (and friend) passed at 12:29. Biggest gathering on the platform seen this year, word must have got around.
