My photo gallery from an excellent Sunday can be found here... http://preservedrailway.weebly.com/welshpool-…
My first day travelling on the line before and thoroughly enjoyed myself, rides up the bank out of Welshpool behind Superb and No. 2 were excellent.[IMG]

Now if they can just arrange for them to send one of the Alishan shays to Wales on a reciprocal visit..!!
I'd pay good money to see that work up Golfa bank.

Good to see, they were looking a bit exposed on the loco front, not sure if 699/SirD is likely to be back this year.

And if the VoR get a taste for 2ft6 overhaul, maybe they might like to look at the 4 in their museum collection .... they apparently have one of these which would look nice on the fantasy working up Golfa bank.

A nice little loco, but I doubt powerful enough for Golfa...

Well, possibly a bit long for the curves...
Although they've run ten coupled locos, I suspect they have shorter wheelbases.
A shame as I think the BNR locos were some of the best looking narrow gauge locos ever built.

Excellent news. Something I believe that has been on the WLLR "wishlist" for a very long time but a bit difficult to justify the journey just for a gala visit!
Looking forward to seeing how it performs on Golfa Bank.

Superb news. Purely out of interest, does anyone possess a gradient profile for the Zillertalbahn? Having looked at photos of some pretty long trains, on the ZB website, I'm guessing the W&L's Golfa Bank will prove a tad more ..... challenging.

    Can't wait! :)

I only have a rough profile but the 'steepest' section from Zell am Ziller to Mayrhofen only rises 50m over the 7km - certainly no Y Golfa! Haven't seen ZB No2 in use for many years so a trip to the W&L will be called for.

Unfortunately unlikely to run during gala.
