How about.... no name? It's not compulsory to name a locomotive, you know but if a name has to be applied, I liked Simon's suggestion back in post #6 of Pegasus.

What's wrong with just 3403, after all? Will the V3 be named? The K3?

I was wondering how long before the livery and name debates reared up again...

Why not build the locomotive first and then we can disquss the name and livery later.:D

My suggestion keeps popping up but I am confident it won't be that. Mainly because Tornado and Prince of Wales are not quite linked to the classes they represent, the Trust ploughs its own furrow.

I picked this because, bizarrely, Violet Gresley suggested the name originally for the V4. I did have the source somewhere for it - I will go back and find it.

This name was originally suggested, and nameplates cast, for the lone W1 when rebuilt but were never fitted.

Or to keep with the poultry theme, how about Foghorn Leghorn?

Can you please tell me what your problem is with me? I certainly haven't meant to cause any offence, or wind anyone up, if I have I apologise.

The W1 was also proposed to be called British Enterprise at one stage.

There's a certain BB about to get an unscheduled dismantling if you're not careful... ;)

(although I'm surprised Chicken Licken didn't figure)

I'm sure the Parachute Regiment would be happy with 'Pegasus'

Its less "popping up" and more me hammering the point that its easily the best name. :)

    Bantam Harrier is really good.

    I also like Pegasus.

As for outrageous Scottish names. Paint it white and call it Unicorn.

There must be something even more outrageous than that... although I like your thinking!
