That would be funny, if it wasn't so true. :(

I heartily approve of this attempt to 'lighten' things up a bit.

We must be very careful or we will destroy the very thing that we ALL care about

I agree. And on the subjects of the current troubles and dressing up, what we could do with is a troop of UN Peacekeepers.

If I may refer back to the Railway with five paid employees and 14 miles of track as apposed to our 50 paid employees and 20 miles of operational track - The Gloucester Warwicks - they have had to completely rebuild their line initially with any track they could get hold of and latterly with continuously welded rail with bullhead for visual effect in Broadway station. They have had a number of bridge issues and more importantly they have a Drainage Gang who are out working at least three days a week maintaining and rebuilding the infrastructure. I have never heard of any drainage work on the WSR! Is it not relevant to us or is it a potential landslip in the making through neglect?

As regards the Scotsman track renewals, were they really necessary especially as they had to be undertaken at night and at short notice with all the costs that goes with a nocturnal renewal? Not the best way to get a good value deal I suggest! A question to the plc why was that not foreseen and covered with a forward plan? At best It does appear to be a cockamamie way of doing things!

I was not forgetting all the other people who put effort & money into the reform group including myself, but it is a fact that the way Frank & Michael gave good leadership that put the icing on the cake. I feel that there is now 2 WSRA trustee's who should be hanging their heads in shame & resigning!!!

Having driven down from Swindon to join in on the stuffing Robin I could get upset at not being mentioned but as you know I am no prima donna! I agree that a very significant number of people were involved in the collective action but I do feel that due recognition should be given to Frank Courtenay for bringing matters to a successful conclusion as then Chairman. True to their word at the time both Frank Courtney and Michael Rowe stood down a few months later and did not allow themselves to stand at the subsequent full AGM following which Paul Whitehouse assumed the Chair.

I do urge all of you to Consider very Carefully the Consequences of repeating this exercise with the plc or we could well lose the very thing over which we are fighting although I am sure everybody has the better interests of the WSR at heart

If you have concerns about the actions of any of the WSRA Trustees over the present difficulties and you are a WSRA member, then please correspond with Mike Sherwood, vice-Chairman, who posts on here as @aldfort

    Forward Planning again

Who should be responsible for identifying this requirement?

Yes, the thread is supposed to be about the WSR PLC and not the trials and tribulations of the Association.
Fancy dress, is a sideline, but then that is a speciality here when there is 'trouble at mill'.

How do you know he would accept it if he were offered it?

Surely it would have been discussed by the Directors already if that were the plan because remember it is the responsibility of the Directors to Appoint a Chairman from their number.

I believe we can safely assume that none of the present board want the job!

Well one of them does but he seems to find himself in a minority of one! More seriously, it is possible that they feel they do not have the right skill set. These jobs are not sinecures, and being a nice chap /hard worker / having been around for years is not a complete set of attributes.

One has to be a lttle careful of the 'literal' approach of such computer based systems. A better translation would be:

'Regrettably, I speak my Russian with a heavy East German accent.'

  17. Then I'm afraid you may not have been paying attention ;)

Just put "drain" in the Picture Search facility for more examples over the years. Here's another one:

Probably some will still not believe it - but then this is Nat Pres after all :)

But do go ahead an organise and run a WSR drain gang - actions speak louder than words, y'know.

I am delighted to be corrected Steve - could someone please replicate the blogs on the Gloucester Warwicks? - it gives a clear idea of the scale involved & invites participation at the same time!
