Thank you for your very kind comments. It isn't available commercially, just on YouTube. Fantastic to see something out of the ordinary on the Island, and full credit has to go to you guys for organising this event. I'd like to think they'd be a repeat event sometime next year? I shall have to return when 41313 is in service.

Also, it was recorded with a rode videomic, so it picks up the sound much better!

Has a date been fixed for the 2018 diesel gala? I could find any mention on the IoWSR website.

    John,
This years gala is September 28,29 and 30th. Discussions are going well with a potential hire loco from the mainland. Pretty much subject to if it will fit or not.

To big, too heavy, if i was a betting man, i would say a 73, now, if it was a 73/9 network rail machine, it could even be a one way trip if one was needed with any reconstruction work on " the other branch"

There is a problem with the timetable. We should have it sorted very soon. We have arranged a visiting loco.

One of the ones normally found at Eastleigh? There are the NR ones but also the gbrf ones. Does 73128 still have its old name?

Iowsr and mid hants were the two lines in the south that didn’t have a 73 named in their honours.

A deltic would be an amusing visiting locomotive and if it were mainline certified it could even pop down to shanklin. ;)

Anthony, No it is not a secret as an organiser of the event I want to get the word out there believe me. What I do not want to do is make false hopes for visitors. As I said the timetable is still to be approved. What I will say is that there are two visiting locomotives coming we are committed to that and the owners have agreed to the visit. 03 197 will be returning courtesy of Stewart Robinson along with Jack Jolly's 03 399 from Mangapps. I hope that will help you decide to come over. This timetable will be sorted out and as soon as it is I will post it here.

Well done on missing the point. It would be nice if a 73 could be named in honour of the IWOSR, it would fit with a tradition as others carried/carry the names of preserved southern lines.

I'm still having a giggle every time I think of @Monkey Magic's 'Deltic' suggestion and the tunnel at Ryde! :)

A quick and easy way to create a Roadster Deltic to deal with the hot weather. Who needs air con in the cab if you've removed the roof already...

I just love those little 03s; they look just right on a branch line. Even nicer if pulling a pick-up goods train, but I appreciate that doesn't bring much revenue these days!

I recon one day it will be a viva rail 230 unit, as a gala visitor the week end before it undertakes gauging tests on " the other Island branch "
