Hmm, really not sure of the air con MK2's in this rake. If I was to book on a train, then I'd want to hear the engine working and not be cocooned inside for several hours. With 2 young boys in tow as well, I'm not sure that Saphos Trains will be for us but then again I doubt they will ever start any tours in the south and London but each to their own and good luck to them.

4EBDA9F5-244E-4E88-B293-8A62EB2C4395.jpeg Glad I made the effort to travel across to the Welsh Border from Newark having travelled up from Biggleswade in the morning... well worth seeing 46100 at the head of Saphos inaugural public run!

So yesterday's trip ran with a Class 7 plus 10 plus a diesel = load of 13/14. on a flat route. If that is replicated down the Marches or anywhere with a hill then it might be worth avoiding if you want pure steam. But on the other hand, this is a new venture that will bring steam charters to the public and they deserve support for so doing, although I sense that for some it will be distant support and not as a passenger.

All DBC. My friends who travelled told me that Keith Murfin drove outward. They didn't get the fireman's name. John 'Sherry' Sheridan did the return. Again. no fireman's name. Bob Hart was TI for part or all. Not very observant my friends!!! - or perhaps it was the beer in the john Wallace Linton lunchtime....

Keith Murfin (DBC) drove outward with TI Sean Levell (now of LSL, formerly of DBC) and an LSL fireman. Pete Sheridan drove on the return, Tony Jones fireman, and Bob Hart TI (all DBC). No assistance from the class 47 throughout but it was quite a load for a class 7 as Al says.

Due to a change in circumstances, I now have a table for 4x I'm unable to use in First Class for the Dartmouth trip on Sunday 24th June - including the Westbury section. If there's anybody on here who wishes to travel the cost was £280 for the 4x seats, so if I can recover as much of this as possible I'd be happy. Any interest please pm me.

I also have a standard ticket available for the sold out 16 June outing to Cardiff. Genuine reason for sale as I will be somewhere else. Price was £45 but I’m open to offers as Saphos won’t refund and there is no waiting list. PM me if interested.

TWTh this week there is a Crewe-Telford-Crewe circular ECS, which I took to be diesel road learning, but 46100 has been moved outside the shed suggesting it may be steam training.

Just had a look at my tickets for tomorrow and see that it is an 11.05 dep. as against 10.50 which RT confirms and a 12 mins stop at Wrexham with Shrewsbury now non stop.

@7P6F -- There are a number of extra locals on the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton line this Sunday in connection with the Cosford air show so I'm assuming Shrewsbury will be a bit busy hence the stop at Wrexham.

Great footage, havent done a tour for long time but fact of a diesel being on the back doesnt bother me, saphos are playing it safe, and they have done wonders with the coaching stock, looks smart on the outside, and no doubt the insides look smart and crisp. The tour schedules dont look massively taxing covering huge distances nice regular route like over north wales and round the marches
