I am interested what is happening with the LNER Beaver tail observation saloons. I know one was being restored to Original condition with the sloping end and the other to the later style. I have seen them both and the sloping one looked like this when I saw it. (see lower photo) Not seen it since has it progressed a bit. ?

    Patience!
Just like with the Channel 4 programme, you'll have to wait.

Do you want me to get fired? I have been asked by my client not to share photos, so that is the end of the matter.

It will be worth the wait and no I am not at liberty to say how long that will be. And besides you know how complex projects can take a little longer than any published targets.

I sure progress would be enhanced by the application of some more filthy lucre so do feel free to donate to the cause :D

While RVP could usefully use donations for other projects, this one is currently fine, thank you.

Its a very rare case where filthy lucre isn't involved, but if you feel the urge to help restore a unique LNER carriage, send some money to the LNERCA - either 3rd class dining car 189 of 1894 or Thompson CK 18477 of 1950 would be worthy recipients. PM me for details.

The RVP Farcebook page indicates that they are hoping to get both Beavertails operational later this year (a reply to a question on there).......

Looks like some springs have been changed recently on the one that was previously restored so that can be put back into traffic.

Saw it a few months back and Externally it looked pretty well finished ( and damn hot...) internally a fair bit to go. Mechanically I didn't ask.
I Didn't take photos without permission.

Really looling forward to seeing its big reveal. Going to be a stunner. Like thats it been done tucked away from prying eyes adds to the anticipation. Colours be interesting later BR liverys or LNER coronation blue and white. Bet the cost has been eye watering for the owner

I know these restorations take time (and money) but in hindsight I can't help but feel it is a shame that it wasn't externally complete to be coupled up to 4489 when it was back in the UK . Former Coronation regular coupled up to the Coronation beaver tail

I know what you mean, however the owner of another A4 is amenable to his loco changing it's identity, ok it's not completely the same but it wouldn't be a bad representation.

I've always hoped for a spell in the NRM coupled next to Mallard and the dynamometer car in the great hall. These days I'm not even sure that's ever likely to happen, with the way the NRM has changed and is likely to change further.

Here is a couple of pictures I took of it some years ago at Barrow Hill, I imagine it has progressed further since then. Will be great to see it finished. :)
