Yes we know that. The question is what are they going to do about it?

    1) Use another member of the home fleet to fill 1264's diagrams
    2) Get another visiting loco - difficult at this late stage although some remarkable last minute arrangements have been known
    3) Rework the timetable to cover all trains with the existing line-up

I imagine 1) is the most likely option especially if 7802 or 43106 are serviceable. 3) could be possible if either of the panniers took over the B1's duties. Not sure how comfortable they are with a 7/8 coach load though.

Most likely scenario is to use 7802 and/or 43106 to fill the gap as both are available. 7802 currently at B'north & 43106 at Bewdley (as on Saturday last).

The Panniers are restricted to six Mk Is/7 LMS on the SVR, and one would want an LNER loco on the teaks?

The official line today is "There will be further announcements this week regarding which locomotive will replace 1264 and work its booked diagrams at the Spring Steam Gala" so it's Watch This Space.

Anyone thinking gala organising is easy is hopefully getting a better perspective . KWVR had loco failures in the run up and very eve of the event , Snow that impacted loco movements and again the very eve of the event

SVR have had late withdrawals and now engine moves that need replanning after circumstances outside their control

I really hope people enjoy the event and most importantly attend . If you do get a moment a word of thanks to the railway I am sure would be much appreciated

Totally agree Martin, wonderful news and many thanks to all at SVR for working to get such a great replacement. Will be there either Friday or Saturday depending upon 'domestic management'!!

Again, totally agree, Martin. Very good news, although I am very familiar with 88 and will spend 4 days at the WSR SSG photting it again.

This looks like an excellent gala as usual. My 2 day rover is bought and hotel booked.

Shame about the B1 but the B 12, King etc are still very attractive. Thanks very much, SVR.

Great result even if I have seen the loco many times. I see from the WTT that it's due to work with sets L and M which is quite appropriate - more appropriate than having the B1 on set L I dare to say! Well done Severn Valley for sorting out a last-minute replacement. Looking forward to it.

The first charter of the gala week was a great success with the B12. Matt Fielding's charter was in very high demand and sold out with an hour, and truly delivered on the day with a great set of runpasts in all the key locations and a surprisingly cooperative sun which was much more than expected. Plenty to go through but three efforts are below.
Tragically the loco has been failed on shed this evening with a smokebox fault which will need welding. It should be fixed at some point tomorrow but will not be ready in time for its train with 30742 charters. I really feel for Martin and the participants, nothing he can do so close to the event.

Yes, an excellent photo charter yesterday on the SVR. Well done Matt Fielding.
I've uploaded the first of two small photo collections. This first one features a couple of mini-vids taken using my iPhone.

I hope you enjoy taking a look.

I'm looking forwards to paying a visit over the Gala Weekend so lots more photos to work on.

Little bit curious as it'll be my first time to an SVR Gala like this. How does one go about getting near to Victoria Bridge in order to get some nice shots of the trains crossing?

There is a footpath from Arley alongside the Severn which passes under the bridge. There is a map just outside the station which shows the route.
