Although building a V4 is not a new 'new' idea, it looks like the A1SLT is making headway, albeit earlier than might have been planned so I'll open the bidding on a new thread to cover Lot 3 (?) coming out of Darlington Locomotive Works.

And for the big issues and punch ups. What colour to paint it and what to call it? 'Bantam Chick'?

Looking at wiki it says this:

'The Bantam rooster is famous for its aggressive, "puffed-up" disposition that can be comedic in stature.' (I shall make no comments about it sounding a lot like a strand of people involved in preservation.)

    "Lightning"

And tie it into the new F35s being used on the aircraft carrier...Prince of Wales.

Thus we come full circle back to the aircraft.

Or, name it Pegasus. Just because.

I've said it before, there's only one Lightning when it comes to aircraft and it's this. [P-38 and F-35 don't count. :) ]
3403 in an interpretation of these colours and named Lightning would get my vote. :)

Wasn't there a broad gauge loco of that name? I think I've a vague memory of an LNWR one too.

A V3 sounds just about the right size of loco for the NYMR, if perhaps a little light footed.

If you want an Army connection, what about "Sergeant Whatisname"?

Surely it was Jake Thackary recorded it first, Jasper C did a cover version of it.
Who ever sang it, it was very funny and an accurate description of a Bantam Cock when full of his ego and hormones!

    Cheers, Neil

Rubbing a bit of salt in the wound there as the (now a thing of the past and replaced by the problematic F35) Harrier had a RR Pegasus engine
