I can't see a thread for this, 70013 is off to Yeovil tomorrow. I assume the same restrictions as the 5th September are the same?

Indeed - another trip which only seems to merit a thread less than a day before. The weather looks to be fair tomorrow and cold enough to make for large visible exhausts. I'm hoping 'OC' puts up something like the display that it did on Tuesday!

ECS move "activated", then "cancelled by operator", according to RTT. Does anyone have any news, please? Edit - a different RTT feed is now showing 5Z92 as running on time! Also, now shown as 280 tons - which is about nine coaches - have 'OC' and support coach not made it?

Have you checked the weather forecast for Templecombe? Wetter than a wet place on a wet day.

Indeed; it gets better further east! I'm still concerned about the formation/possible diesel haulage, though, given the RTT changes I mentioned.

I was dithering about whether to go to photograph this given my (possibly unfounded) concerns about the presence of 70013, but the decision has been taken away from me by the cancellation of my train from Betchworth! I had planned to take my bike on the train to North Camp and 'cycle to somewhere around Pirbright.

Glad to hear it. I'm a tad bemused by the initial cancellation (according to RTT) of the ECS (trailing weight 715 tons) at the request of WCRC and its replacement a little later with another ECS (same headcode) but with a trailing weight of 280 tons. Hey ho - another quirk of RTT I suppose! Hope all goes well today.

Thanks for posting. Steam heat was clearly operating well so why the Crompton on the back? I am sure no operational requirement at Yeovil Jn for it.

By all accounts I've heard about the outward journey, the locomotive performed and sounded superbly well. A few shots I took on its return at Salisbury. Was also nice to hear the Brit doing all the work on departure with the "Slim Jim" on the back just ticking over.

    NB: First photo was taken from a privileged position while undertaking work duties. 70013 1Z94 YVJ-Vic 141217 3.jpg 70013 1Z94 YVJ-Vic 141217 7.jpg

I've just added four shots taken at Fleet this morning to my Flickr site. Taken against the light as usual they're hardly master shots, but this is the first one in the Photostream if anyone would like to have a look:

    Hope they're of interest.

Yes, I noticed that in the video taken at Winchfield. But there again, you are nine late away from the stop with the option of having some extra help to get up to speed and possibly get back on time. We know it happens; that's the reason to avoid these trips if it matters to you.
