All rather depressing looking back on this from current developments. Can anyone find the website of the original (non-Stalinist) society to see what their take is? Google only gives me the blank sites of the failed group.

Mhmm, found the site eventually. It appears to have not been updated in the News section in 12 years? It also appears to have been hacked with ads for casinos in the middle of stretches of text.
Probably best not to visit it!

Well the 'stalinistist' new society managed to have a number of very successful open days, with a wide variety of steam engines running. They also managed to have the use of a steam engine for weekend working, together with new carrages and Jubilee under restoration in the workshops. Not bad for a 'stalinistic' society. Looking forward there were well developed plans to extend the main line into Penrhyn Quarry towards Zip World.
Very sad, years of hard work gone in a few days.

The link I have for the Society as was is this one http://www.penrhynqrs.co.uk/and no Casino stuff on it unless it's getting blocked by my anti rubbish blocking stuff and it has has been dead for a long time so nothing of any current relevance anyway.
The lack of any information makes me wonder if someone hasn't thrown all their toys out of the pram rather than negotiate a solution, probably never get to find out the real reason.

Yes - this is updated as compared to the site I found. But doesn't tell us much...

Just a bump, the main PQR website has now expired, guess that and the total lack of anything further on the Facebook page makes the closure permanent.

I wonder what happened to 'Joseph' from the original group?

Perhaps the end, but remember the railway lay dormant for forty years. So never say never.
If Joseph was the Felinbahn under restoration in the early days of the restoration programme, then it was moved a number of years ago from Felin Fawr.

Didn't Buzzard get hold of a Fellbahn in the last couple of years?

They did, but not the one from Penrhyn. The one at Leighton Buzzard (Krauss 7455) came from France in 2015. Penrhyn's (Henschel 15540) seems to have disappeared some time in 2013 unless anyone knows different?

There is a posting on FaceBook from the Penrhyn Railway saying there will be a statement about the way forward for the railway before Christmas.
The railway is aawaking from its short slumber.

Let's hope whatever is forthcoming serves to tie up the mess of loose ends left over by events earlier in the year.

I'm certain I'm not alone in wanting to see a successful revival of this historically key site, so the vital thing needed now will be sufficient clarity to enable folk to have confidence in the rebooted Penrhyn operation as a viable scheme.

Awaiting the upcoming announcement with anticipation. :)
