11 on. There was definitely shovage following the bank immediately after Shrewsbury, presumably because water was at a premium.

Feeling energetic this morning weren't you?!

Given the glorious sun at S'Bury I decided to head off to see it over the viaduct at Cefn Mawr...
...heading up the A5 the skies were starting to look dark ahead. At Oswestry it started to rain. At Cefn Mawr it was sleet & snow, clouds into the valley further north and very gloomy with strong winds. :(

Decided to head south again so ended up at Gobowen, where it was only light spots of rain and almost a bit of sunlight (which typically emerged properly just after the train had gone through).

My footage from this morning. Filmed at Llantilio Pertholey, as she begins the climb up Llanvihangel, and Hope-under-Dinmore. I hope you enjoy! :)

Lovely video and performance from the crew plus Ollie and a sensible load of 11. It's just a pity that for whatever the reason, the diesel had to go as well. With it the train was overloaded and it therefore had to do what it had to do in places.

A great shot despite the conditions.

    Hello Ian,

Yes, it was a bit of a schlepp up Ragleth Hill this morning; had a similar weather experience, rain, snow coupled with a biting wind, but worth it in the end as the sun broke thro' a few minutes before the train's arrival. After photographing the train it was a swift descent and into The Ragleth Arms for a pint and a defrost by the fire.....

    Cheers,

    Alan

I was at Abergavenny for that run too and agree the Earl was outstanding that day. You can't compare the two runs directly as circumstances are different - I am just glad I was there for the aesthetic and acoustic experience offered by both locos.

Oh, dear. Seems that the signalman at Craven Arms may have failed to make the judgement call the pay grade requires from time to time. Late running Arriva service, charter ready to leave loop on time. Instead of letting the charter move on and give a clean pair of heels, it was kept for 16 minutes. Result: now running 30 late.

Sounds better than my morning traipsing around Shropshire avoiding the sun :Grumpy: !
    Nice shot from somewhere different.

Anyway -- trains that pass in the night.
A very cold Church Stretton on the way south.

My shots of Oliver Cromwell basking in the morning sun on her outward leg. Filmed at Patchway, Tram Inn and Wistanstow. Enjoy.
