I would assume looking at the drawing that it is close to where the carriage shed will be (most likely to the left hand side of the site), which isn't shown on the drawing (nor was it shown in the Steam Railway article drawing which was their own version).

The plans above I think only show the Turntable, Engine Shed and Loco Works

Does this mean the A1 trust will be moving out of Hopetown?

It says it they will be vacating Hopetown Works, but doesn't the NELPG also have something to do with the works?

There is an existing connection from North Road station. One of the reasons the Trust couldn't connect the Hopetown side was the super-elevation on the outside of the curve. No doubt NELPG will be offered first dibs on the other half of the carriage works.

The website says "The site can be easily and relatively cheaply reconnected to the national network as there is already a fully signalled connection into a rarely used siding in the former yard at Whessoe Road, sited west of Network Rail’s North Road station on the line from Darlington to Bishop Auckland." However the existing building is between Whessoe Road and the line towards Bishop Auckland, i.e. east of the line (and somewhat north of North Road station).

I had a mental bet with myself on whether a connection would be made and I am glad to be proved right! Nameplate redesign to include the crest I wonder?
