Well a bit of a testing day today all in all..delays shunting at Swithland when swapping freight sets were then compounded by issues with a defective carriage that had to be removed from a train at Rothley so apologies to anyone that visited for the various delays and alterations that took place.

Fingers crossed tomorrow will go a bit more smoothly! As per today 78018 will cover for 73156 and the class 20 D8098 will cover the standard 2s diagram.

Considering the issues however, trains were only ever 30 mins late or seemed and the final TPO was right time thru Quorn. A lot of railways appear to consider if the train leaves within an hour of its timetabled departure time to be good time!

Had a thoroughly enjoyable day linesiding today... Thanks to all the volunteers keeping the show on the road today and in the run up to today.

Excellent show as always, some decent displays too captured from the lineside. Squadron was a superb sight on the TPO, though, 6990 on the final drop was the best. The two blokes at the front of platform by the bridge in the final scene probably wished they stood somewhere else !

Enjoyed my three days immensely! The GCR put on a fine show and 34081 certainly brightened the dull dull dull weather on Saturday with her malachite livery! As always, met some really nice people on trains and at the line-side. We are so so lucky to be able to enjoy events such as this in the UK. Thanks go to all those who made it happen.
A few shots here, the rest on the website in due course.

Nice shots John and good to chat with you on Friday, I think we were stood together for the shot of the Ivatt leaving Loughborough.

My footage from a very grey Saturday!
The delays were unfortunate, but still a splendid day all round!

My shots from the gala over the Saturday and Sunday. Shame about 73156 - be nice if they could keep it in the 73084 guise for a while when she returns or at least run her as 73084 over the Winter gala next year.

As a pedant, I feel pressed to ask which posts ARE necessary? ;)

Unnecessary = not needed; something we could do without. For example #93. :)

Had a really good day at the GCR Gala, shame about the Std5 but these things happen. Heard the problem was the steam brake failing which caused the touch with the buffer stops.

My video from the Sunday below:
