35018 British India Line

"Can we not simply rejoice that the loco has been saved and is in steam?" doesn't seem like discussion to me.. more a directive, don't mention livery and you can talk.... I have my opinions but would like to be allowed to express them without being harangued..

 

You are absolutely entitled to your opinions. Others are entitled to hold different opinions. We are all entitled to express our respective opinions and to disagree politely with others' opinions.

 

The word beginning with P is key there.

 

Thank goodness my main interest is German steam!

 

Could have been even more debate if they'd painted 35018 red below the running board!

 

And numbered it in the most likily DB class number what is the german equivalent for Class 8 P WIih DB on the tender , german style deflectors .

 

I imagine it would look most handsome like that. Worth giving Carnforth a ring, I would say.

 

To be a real British India Line it should have a black funnel with two white bands. Would the purists object to that.

 

Never mind the paint wibble, have they sorted that steam leak yet?!

 

I'm sure there's some sort of rule on NP about there must be so much paint froth! Minor things like steam leaks don't count!

 

I've been responsible for plenty of livery wibble over Scotsman (IMO it's apple green or nowt, I'd have kept it a la Marchington if necessary!), but come on, the main consideration here is getting BIL back running...

 

That's a minor detail, the important bit is the colour.............

 

The reason the thread drifts to the trivial is that anytime performance or methods get politely questioned it provokes hostile orders to cease and desist by the self appointed Republican Guard of North Lancashire

Heaven Forbid a bit of paint gets in the way of a reliable working mainline loco.....

 

All gone quiet on this. My understanding is that it is now in BR green and due to debut imminently. I've forgotten which train it is on, though!

The froth, such as it was, was caused by a number of stirrers claiming out of spite the owner was intending to finish it in a style which would apall photographers and "quite right too". I hope they are the ones that apologise to the owner for portraying him in such a manner.

 

It could well be this one. Fairly certain York was the destination. My ignorance shows I have no real interest in these things. It will pass within 2 miles of my home and I won't be turning out to see it.
