Well let's hope it is fixed quickly or it might be an early termination for the train

Very changeable weather, but some sunshine at Appleby - not many watchers or photographers though!

There was also some sun at Hellifield. No sun at Birkett or Ais Gill.

    Brief Report : -

When I turned up at Euston yeaterday morning saw we had 11 coaches behind the 86 I was concerned that we would have assitance over Shap at least.
Nothing was attached to the the rear and I could clearly hear the roar of Leander from the front of the 3rd coach as we left Carnforth 5 early. We passed Oxenholme at 43mph and were down to 28.8mph at Grayrigg, we got up to 50mph through the Lune Gorge but were down to 47.2mph at Tebay. We had a well controlled climb up Shap and were down to 21.3mph at the Summit. We reached a maximum of about 78mph ( my gps jumped about quite a bit) on the run down to Carlisle and arrived 5 late and I headed to The Thin White Duke for Lunch. The heavens opened as we left Carlisle, I was now in the rear of the 11th Coach, we had a slow plod to Appleby. We left Appleby on time and in sunshine , but were 5l when we passed the Ais Gill summit board at 30.4 mph. We stopped outside Hellifield ( in sun again) where we were informed there had been a points failure and we were waiting for Network Rail to attend. After this was sorted and we had watered we left Hellifield 25late , We were held briefly outside Clitheroe and for longer outside Whalley, we manged to get to the late teens before the start of the climb and after a steady climb, where we could clearly hear Leander, topped the bank at 22mph. After the loco change we managed to pick up time it looked like we might arrive on time, but were held outside Milton Keynes due to another train ( running late ) in our booked platform, and arrived 8L at Euston. Thanks to SD - Charlie and the team (Charlie was in charge since neither Marcus or Steve was on board) West Coast and the support crews for a very enjoyable day.
