Do you mean just to the right of the Up platform canopy at Corfe Castle? If so, it is the lead-off for the point rodding installed when the old Porter's Room was converted to the signalbox in the 1950's.

Our naturist's beach is at the other end of the bay at Ringstead. The other one is the world famous Studland beach just round the corner from Swanage. You can see Old Harry Rocks from there :Wtf:

Yes, but in the circumstances it would surely be better to respect his privacy...

Lucky for him (and the nudists) that Spyway is on the South Coast of Purbeck and out of sight!

Went to Studland yonks ago. Lovely beach and the lagoon side was like getting into a warm bath. Where I did draw the line was nude cricket! The day did convince me that the Swanage line is essential. Those endless bloody traffic jams on every route, in or out, still linger in my mind even 30 years later!

I was amazed that Bodmin and Wenford had to increase their train length by 2 carriages on the one day of the week that it *threw* it down - trains were absolutely packed and I was glad the driver of the autotrain was kind enough to let me in the cab just for the space, let alone the improved view and the fascinating conversation!

In the 90's I used to stay on the one chalet that was actually on the beach at Whitsand Bay

It was quite relaxed as one might say. The partying students swimming al fresco in the evening were fine, but the skinny dipping pensioners that turned up early in the morning quite put me off my breakfast.

I did a single trip today from Corfe to Swanage

I noticed that at the end of the coaches were notices about the usual don'ts - window hanging, running on platforms etc however at the bottom it was pointed out that 'You and your party could be banned from the railway'

Has there been some trouble recently?

257 Squadron went past my window on a low loader a few minutes ago so hopefully it will be in service reasonably soon to help with the steam shortage.

I have heard a rumour (so may not be true) that there are still so many issues to be rectified with the T9 that it is being sent back.

I'm thinking of a day trip from London before the through Wareham service finishes this year. The website says "You can buy travel tickets now online (upto 2300 the day before)" but I can't see how. I have emailed them.

Or, as long as trains are running on time (both mainline and the branch), you will have plenty of time to purchase your ticket from the Swanage ticket office which can be found in the downside car park
