The website is not that bad and I think the website is very good. The website is maintained by people in their free and people do have lives to live.

John the SVR has just published the timetable for its gala which is just under a month away, I don't like being critical but I'd like to know is it worth me spending my cash and free time making a trip over there? For an event that's just over a week away I don't think that's too unreasonable.

Nice one! Thanks for that, would like to finally get the Y14 in the book, may have to have a trip over to Yarmouth in the morning for my 37 fix then up to Sheringham for a bit of Midland (53809) and Great Eastern (564) action.

No doubt, but at the same time the railway has to i) understand that if they expect to get significant sums of money from 'outsiders' showing up to pay to ride the system, they need to have an effective means of communicating with those (mostly unknown) outside spenders, and therefore ii) must make the provision of said communication channel a very high priority indeed, and see that it has adequate resources.

(Please note that this comment is not in any way intended as a knock against any volunteers; it is intended to be 'positive criticism'.)

It's old farts like me are the problem. Just how crucial that Interweb thingemy has become should be obvious enough, although exactly how much it can do hasn't quite sunk in with a lot of my generation yet. In all honesty, you can include me amongst the frequently befuddled!

To be fair @M59137 has said the website needs to be updated, so I do think it has been noted. Going back 5 years or so ago when the SVR was struggling for steam locos and it seemed every weekend was an impromptu diesel gala, they managed to dig themselves out of a hole by advertising that this weekend is a warship/western weekend or its an EE weekend, it doesn't take much to keep people up to date in this day and age. It's a week away from the North Norfolks gala, next weekend I'll be purchasing an Anglia plus day ranger for class 37's, is it it worth me going to Yarmouth and back 4 times ? Or heading over to Sheringham? I really hate to go on but this info should be up by now.

NNR Website redesign is in progress. The new site should be in place next season.

I do apologise if it seems like I have a downer on the NNR Steve I don't mean too , but the first thing 99% of visitors do in this day and age before they even step foot in the booking hall is have a look at the website. It really should be kept up to date, first impressions and all that.

Hopefully this will help explain why the railway has been holding off publishing details on the website - a lot, and I mean a lot, of effort has been going on behind the scenes the resolve the issue. The railway doesn't want to publish info only for it to be wrong within hours.

That's fair enough, can't argue with that.

There does seem to have been some confusion on the website. The gala tickets were listed on the website including instructions advising how to purchaee but when I rang the NNR they were unable to sell me tickets until a couple of weeks later. They could however sell me a WW2 weekend ticket which is later in the year.

The Website is now such an important part of a heritage railways offer that it should be one of the duties of a full time admin staff member. People with website skills are not as tough to find as they once were.

Did the WD and Black Prince double head at the Gala?

I realise I shouldn't believe everything I read, but, a certain railway publication has published a story saying that 44767 is to return to the NNR, to work on the Cromer services as well as regular NNR services.

It would seem that this mag agrees with you as they are now running a story saying that the NNR are denying that this deal has been struck. It as apparently a proposal in 2015 but the negotiations weren't concluded.

I guess this isn't a problem for the NNR with their plans for the B12 and N2 to run to Cromer.

Just hope 44767 is back in steam at some point regardless of which line it ends up on.

Sorry if I have missed anything, has there been any Sheringham-Cromer Services recently? Last I heard the NYMR was operating these?

    Cheers :)

I think there have been quite a few Sheringham-Cromer services over the summer. Think they are almost routine these days, though still selling out.
