Does anybody here know if the gauging problem at Thatcham is being sorted this month which I think was the plan?

I'm really hoping Sept 23 is going ahead.

My understanding is that a Plan B is being considered just in case Thatcham has not been sorted out by Sept 23.

There is no problem over the ACE running but we may come home via Westbury, Melksham and Swindon then on up to Reading. That route will add a bit to the journey time but if it happens we get some rare track. So what's not to like!!

Rapid searching of notes will now follow to discover when steam last went through Melksham.

I think SD have been through in the last couple of years. Either way, Plan B is actually better than Plan A from my perspective as I haven't done Melksham either, there's also the climb up Dauntsey and also a chance of a decent sprint over the GWML.

It would appear that No 9 will be going through Melksham on Saturday and the also the 19th West Somerset trip
