Looks like all ran okay again today with Clan Line. My photo below is from Rockshaw Road, Merstham, where 35028 came storming past. Also below is a video featuring the run today, as well as footage of the two private charters earlier in the week, for those who are interested.

What are we looking for? Is the white exhaust or something else. Not an expert on priming locos but I thought they had to be nursed along until the problem is sorted?

Going by the thick white exhaust and the sound of it I would say so.

The thick white exhaust that's coming from the very rim of the chimney is the biggest clue. There should normally be a gap between the chimney and the exhaust, but as it's picking up water there isn't. Plus the woolly noise isn't wonderful either.

That shows at least two sleepers in need of repacking. It can't be doing the rail any good to be bending so much with every axle that passes.

Oddly enough the inspection train ran in the opposite direction slightly earlier

Was that the first outing this time around for the 'Black' Nameplates?

Interesting I hadn't noticed that - certainly they were red for the "Bournemouth Belle", the "Waterloo Sunset" and the private charters on 7th, 10 & 11th so looks like it

Red plates for high days and holidays, black plates for normal working days. Normal service has been resumed... :)

Well, yes, but clearly there are exceptions and it appears that our friends at the MHR were seen as one!

On the bridge notice it says SLUE. What the hell is that? SLEW surely.
