Wait until one of your fabled gricers turn up? ;) Even the chap I once spent half an hour arguing with about why we *shouldn't* lay double track was quite accepting of a last minute loco failure! :O

I fully understand that a roster is a statement of intent and have never complained about late changes whether due to loco failure or what is often termed operational reasons. The rather heavy handed attempts at humour in response to my raising this issue are really revealing.
An up to date roster is simply a straightforward way of attracting additional discretionary spending at your railway. We headed to Portchester Castle on Saturday, a loco roster on the MHR could well have brought us there instead. Simples

Yes quite right. We may go this Saturday but probably not if a roster isn't available. Also our request for an Alive in 45 ticket hasn't had a response. If they can't be bothered then norl will I.

It's a shame as the MHR is a lovely line.

I thought that Dreadnoughts were only available in Black and White or Sepia? :)

Ah, is that why warship preservation never really takes off - inability to argue about the livery....!

When I was working last Saturday, the plan was for a three train service, with the 9F, the Black Five and the Schools. The Standard Four would be standby loco.

Was your application by 'phone or e-mail? The office has been handling 'phone requests on the spot from what I have seen, but I don't know what the status is re e-mail or web requests. I t00k on chap to the office myself the other week, as he regulary travelled fron Winchester to Itchen Abbas in 1941 ad 42

    Some answers for @cymroglan & @gricerdon..........

    1. Ops are a tad busy at the moment trying to organise things for some shindig in July, so the lack of loco roster maybe a lack of oversight........

    2. The "Alive in 45" offer...... they have been overwhelmed by the response & this is being handled by one volunteer who does one day a week....... I'm assured that all who have applied, should have a reponse by close of play tomorrow, so please be patient.....

    Hope that helps! :)
