Flying up Llanvihangel, in fine form, and hardly a peep from the 47.

My footage of Flying Scotsman charging along The Welsh Marches Line. Filmed at Dorrington and Llanvihangel Crucorney. Enjoy.

There were quite a few people walking up and down the line at Gatcombe just before the Gliding Jock came past, which induced several loud horn blasts from the driver of an LM 170 heading towards Newport.

FS was slowed to a stop at a red just after we saw it, though that's most likely unrelated I guess?

Unfortunately there has been a lot of trespass reported today for both of Scotsman's trips. Flying Scotsman is trending on Twitter this evening due to the trespass.

For the dinosaurs among us, what pray does "trending on Twitter" mean?

It means that one of the most mentioned subjects on the Twitter messaging system (social media) is about trespassing on the line relating to today's Flying Scotsman movements - trending is a way of classifying news as important based on how many people mention it.

It was used to haul the train from Cardiff to be turned at the triangle in Newport.

Nice to see it going well up Llanvihangel but a load of 12 plus a 'dead' diesel would not be going at that pace. Just saying. Good to see the loco on the Marches though.

People are turning a blind eye again to the open exhaust vents that show the '47 is powered. Load 15+ at that speed up Llanvihangel? Get serious.

The train didn't need to be turned, just the engine as Tornado on 1st March

Yes and that's why my only main line run with FS so far was the press run in February last year. Shame because it seems to be a good free running loco. I wonder when it will next run DL free. Yes I know it did on GBX

Over 100 people gathered at the appropriately named Ram Hill footbridge near Coalpit Heath to see Flying Scotsman yesterday evening. Unfortunately a group of numpties near Cam and Dursley decided to watch the train from the wrong side of the fence and the train was stopped due to trespass. The train eventually passed Ram Hill 51 minutes late at 22:07 ....in the dark. Thanks numpties. [IMG] <BJ>

Far easier and quicker to turn whole train, time restraints presumably the reason why the second leg started from Newport and not from Cardiff, doing away with the need for return L/E movements between the two cities. With Tornado, Cardiff was the destination of a returning train with several hours layover in which to service and turn the loco.
