If you have better things to do and your own railway to think of then why come on this thread in the first place?
As this is a WSR thread one would assume it was about all things WSR. If you dont want to know about such things then dont read it.

I'm not sure how the matter would have arrived at the PDG. Stations are not represented, and in any case as there are LA representatives present I wouldn't want discussion about an internal problem in front of them.

Because at times its better than a soap opera............ not that I watch them.

Oh, and given trials & tribulations the WSR seems to conjurer up, sometimes outside opinion or advice proves useful! :)

  12. Hi Paul - stations were represented - I believe first by Tim S and latterly by Martyn S. Why is there now no representation? I agree an "internal problem"may not be appropriate for PDG but as I said the background matters (the introduction of new agreements for Friends groups and/or Station Masters) would seem an opportunity for the wider WSR family to be informed and observe/comment. If non-confidential matters concerning the wider WSR family are not to be discussed at PDG then what is the point of the PDG? Happy to discuss offline if you prefer.

I entirely agree that non-confidential matters of this nature should be discussed at PDG. Robin has also reminded me that Martyn Snell took over from Tim Stanger, although it could be argued that his brief is now too wide.

    I'll PM you.

Quite. Many will have hoped to have left behind the culture of secrecy that bedevilled the WSRA, and indeed FOCHS under previous regimes. What is needed now is for the future to be considered rather than turning over the past. Hopefully the WSR PLC will give a lead on this so that the volunteers left at CH can come together and form a new friends group. CH is arguably the most attractive station on the line and I look forward to it being well run again.

Weird how it became a problem after 60 odd years though eh?

The main was some kind of cupressus that had multiple trunks sprouting from the base. Fast growing species like that are often a problem within a few years let alone sixty. QED.

The trees at the Minehead end of the down platform were not fast growing and by counting the rings had been in place a very long time

Cupressus are a fast growing species which were the ones causing an obstruction. I have just passed through CH on the QB en route to Minehead. I see there are some recently felled trees on land next to, but not owned by, the WSR so direct any criticism to the owner!;)
