I'll study the ops notice this evening. It's 34 pages long and so may take some time. :Saywhat:

Seems a little silly to me doing e-tickets when sending out the program. Gonna save them pence (probably the e-ticket system is more expensive to run!).

Also sneaky how it does not give the option to send out real tickets.

And how it's just one piece of paper per transaction. What happens if your group wanted to spilt up?

Also what is stopping you printing out 100 of them? They'd never know. For a gig or something it works as its no readmission.

This is precisely why the wtt is sold, question is who broke the WSR rules of handing out/emailing staff and volunteer only information, namely the ops notice to a Joe Soap member of the public,Can see the WSRS point of view if you want it pay for it, I hope this is investigated or it will further harm galas at the railway.

A what? A telegram, what's that? Never heard of it :).
Now if you had said "Why don't you use twitter, you hip Geeks", I would known where you coming from.
I don't sound right trying to be "down with the young'uns". I'm going to bed, now.

A TELEGRAM STOP WAS A WAY OF SENDING URGENT MESSAGES STOP AS YOU SAY THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THINGS LIKE TWITTER STOP WHERE TYPING IN ALL CAPITALS IS REGARDED AS BEING BAD FORM STOP

Indeed yes and carried by fast horses to their destinations. You have to be of a certain age to remember this form of communication. The railway had their own version called?. My memory fails me. Must be my age!

There is a picture on WSR.org of 53809 being lit up last night for a steam test today. Does this mean it will run at the gala? And, if so, when will 76017 be running?

One of the more interesting - often giving rise to jocundity - was the function of a Bridegroom's 'best man' in reading out the telegrams at the banquet.
There were many other reasons for telegrams, some of a pleasant nature and some, sadly, not. Far more personal than an e-mail.

The Wife and mees is getting all worked up about our annual Spring trip to oo-argh land, hotels and tickets booked yonks ago. For the record our timetable arrived last Toosday and has been thoroughly scrootanised since. The loco line up and rostering looks excellent to us. If 53809 does make it the more the merrier, hopefully with 53808 again. Weather forecast is generally good but deteriorating Sunday, so looks like a riding day and a look at the S&D layout at BL is in order.
Anyone able to comment on the new layout at Minehead, do the loco's no longer have to go over the road crossing to get from one side of the station to the other?
If Robin White is on duty let us know and we'll give you a wave. :D
Wonder what colour the WSR mug is this year?

Actually, it's not the WTT that's included in the programme. It's the public timetable with the loco allocations. The WTT would also include (for example) the light engine trips to/from Norton for turning, which the programme doesn't.

Although the track has been renewed, there is no change to the layout so locos still have to go out over the crossing.

Thanks Ian, I thought I had read somewhere that the layout was being altered.

Just had an email from the GM. Not only is photography prohibited within red zones but also there is no access through any part of the red zones.

Yes I thought that would be the case. Thanks for clarifying. It just makes it more difficult travelling between locations by train, unfortunately.

Much of the enjoyment of a Gala for me is planning my journeys and deciding where to hop-on and hop-off the trains.
Am I the only person who is finding the print size on the WTT pages of the souvenir programme almost impossible to read?
    Stef.
