Tornado loaded test run: POB, 12 Mk2's, and 67 tail. Unusual collection of rolling stock, Byfleet & NH and Chilworth.

    Why the flashing red signal?

It wasnt, A flashing red sequence does not appear on UK signals, its an effect of the scan rate of the CCD in the video camera (shutter speed) and the frequency of the signal lamp. Its just another manifestation of the "stage coach wheels going backwards" or "stopped aeroplane propellors" visual effect.

Some whispers that now Tornado is back together again and has completed her proving run around Surrey, the 90 mph test run is imminent. There is a suggestion it will take place out of Doncaster northwards at some point before Easter and in the dark.

I think I saw a tweet say that Tornado is in Doncaster today so I assume that LE move was 60163.

Weren't the Arriva coaches in that loaded test the ones also part of the S&C runs back in February? Any idea where they came from?

That seems to be it. Newcastle to York in 71 minutes. Looks to be exactly the same as the point to point timings that Bittern was given in 2013 except that we were given an amazingly tight 8 minutes in from Tollerton. The test run allows 10. By the way, on the Bittern trip, that last 8 minute leg was done in 9 minutes from passing Tollerton at 90. The entrance into P11 across all the tracks was, shall we just say, swift.
