How do I put this, I hope Mr Riley has 2 years to change Mr Cameron's mind! But at the end John Cameron dosn't owe us anything does he? Just out of interest how far North, South, East and West has No9 made it? I make it Norwich in the East and Plymouth in the West.

Completely agree Mr Cameron has totally earned the right to do with 60009 as he sees fit, sad though his choice may be for many. The sadder situation is the same decision affecting the K4 and one can only hope he is open-minded enough to give someone else the opportunity he had when convincing Lord Lindsay to sell to him. Surely a credible plan for a secure operational future would be persuasive? There is a gap in the market for an LNER apple green liveried loco whose number ends in 2 carrying a 'Flying Scotsman' headboard!

Plymouth is probably the furthest south too. Redhill and East Croydon mark the furthest east in the South East and Southampton possibly the furthest south in the South East (if this makes sense?) Kent, sadly, is out of bounds. Off the top of my head, I can't remember whether No. 9 has ever run to Weymouth, but if not, that omission is due to be addressed this coming July.

I'll leave the furthest north for someone else to work out, but my guess (open to correction) would be Inverness.

No 9 has been to Par, for sure. I have video of her climbing the Fowey valley between Bodmin Rd and Liskeard. Not sure if she's ever been further SW than that...? I think she's also been to Weymouth - or was that Bittern?

4464 has been in the rotation for Dorset Coast Expresses before. Last time was 2012 I believe.

That was 9the June, 2013. On 16th August, 2015 Union of South Africa hauled a Royal Duchy railtour from Bristol to Par but the loco unfortunately failed on the outward leg at Newton Abbot. <BJ>

She has definitely been as far as Plymouth as I was on the trip that she hauled. I remember it because the weather was appalling. The sea was splashing over the train at Dawlish. At Plymouth we didn't even leave the confines of the station due to the wind and torrential rain. Horrible day.

Surely Holyhead is further west than Blackpool - and 60009 did several runs to Holyhead in 1990 as I travelled on one of the services.

Actually what I care about most is that she is ready to haul GBX north from York at the end of April!
